The wisdom of the ages can still be read in the Crossway Classic Commentaries, which present the very best all-time commentaries on individual books of the Bible. In this newest release, John Calvin explores key passages of Genesis--a book of important beginnings and memorable accounts that lays the foundation of Christianity. Carefully abridged and stylistically adapted for today's reader, Calvin's insights are an excellent guide for every student interested in fathoming the depths of the Bible's first book.

Review: Genesis, Geneva Commentary SeriesProcura do Utilizador - Christianbook.com
As far as revealing Calvin's thoughts clearly in the contemporary English language, this was an easy to read translation. As to the content, I cannot say I agree with everything Calvin says, but I was impressed at the timelessness of many of his thoughts (first written nearly 500 years ago). With minor adjustments for the age of the work, many of his thoughts are just as applicable today as they were then. I regret that I had not read any of his work much earlier in my Christian faith, due to descriptions I'd heard about him and some regretable incidents that happened in that time period of history. To anyone who might be reading this, I would recommend that you first read what he has to say in a work such as this, and then begin to view him through the 20/20 hindsight of history we have at the disposal of our armchair. His writing is excellent. It came to me sharp and clear. Rarely do I have the time to write down word for word what an author says, but I found myself making the time here.
