LACKINGTON & Co. very respectfully inform their Friends resident in the Country, and Public Libraries, and other Literary Establishments abroad, who may intend favoring them with commands from this Catalogue, that they cannot hold themselves responsible for the faithful execution of any orders, unless the same are addressed directly to them, or to their immediate correspondents. They feel it incumbent on them to make this observation, in consequence of having found, in some instances, that orders intended for them, by being sent more circuitously, have not reached their hands; while the execution of such commissions, perhaps without any, or at least with a very partial, reference to their Catalogues, muy have subjected them to a discredit wholly unmerited.
