That 138 votes returned from Wakefield for Samuel Taylor, 82 votes from Hudson for Edward Parker, 19 votes from Wilmot for Thomas Rollins, 72 votes from Brookfield for John_Philbrooke, and 127 votes for Moses Weeks,127 votes for Joseph Darling, from the town of Pembroke are included among the votes estimated as scattering.

Which was read and adopted.

On motion of Mr. Burns of the Senate

The Convention rose and the Senate withdrew.

On motion of Mr. French-

Resolved, that a committee be appointed to be joined by such as the Senate may appoint, to give information to his Excellency the Governor, that Benjamin Pierce, Phinehas Parkhurst, Samuel Collins, John Taylor, John Holbrook, Joseph Weeks and Moses White, are duly chosen by the people of this state Electors of President and Vice President of the United States.

Ordered, That Messrs. French, Wallace and Carroll be the committee.

Ordered, That the Clerk inform the Senate thereof.
A message from the Senate by their Clerk-

"Mr. Speaker-The Senate concur with the House of Representatives in the passage of a resolution appointing a committee to wait on the Rev. Mr. Kelly, and inform him of his appointment as Chaplain, and on their part have joined Mr. Whittemore."

Mr. Crosby of Milford gave notice that he should to-morrow ask leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act in addition to an act to prevent encroachments upon highways, passed February 27, 1786.” A message from the Senate by their Clerk.

"Mr. Speaker--The Senate concur with the House of Representatives in the passage of a resolution appointing a committee to wait upon His Excellency the Governor and inform him of the election of Electors of President and Vice President of the United States, and have on their part joined Mr. Carr."

Mr. French from the joint committee appointed to wait upon his Excellency the Governor and inform him of the election of Electors of President and Vice President of the United States, reported that they have attended to their duty.

Mr. Sandborn introduced the following resolution,

Resolved, That in all cases when any subject was by order of the House at the last session postponed to the present session, the Clerk be directed to deliver the papers in relation to such subjects to the Chairman of the committee to which they were respectfully referred.

Mr. Ingalls presented the account of the Selectmen of the town of Shelburn.

Ordered, That it be referred to the committee on Claims.

Mr. Waldron from the select committe appointed to report the number of members who shall constitute a committe to receive the returns of the inventories made a report, whereupon

Resolved, That a select committee to consist of thirty-seven members be appointed to receive and examine the returns of inventories of the several towns in this State, for the purpose of reporting a new proportion for the assessment of publick taxes, which committee shall consist as follows:

Resolved, That the foregoing committee be nominated by the delegation of the respective committees.

Mr. Peaslee from the select joint committe appointed to wait upon the Rev. Mr. Kelly, and inform him of his appointment as Chaplain during the present session of the Legislature, reported

That they had attended to that duty, and that the Rev. Mr. Kelly has signified to them his acceptance of that appointment, and that he would attend to that duty at the time prescribed by the Legislature.

On motion of Mr. Nesmith

Resolved, That the rules of the House be so far suspended as to permit the introduction of a bill at the present time.

Mr. Nesmith pursuant to said suspension of the rules had leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to authorise Registers of Probate to adjourn Courts of Probate in certain cases.

Which was read a first and second time.

Ordered, That it be read a third time.

On motion of Mr. Nesmith-

The 37th rule of the House was so far suspended as to permit the afoersaid bill to be read a third time at the present time. The bill was read a third time.

Resolved, That it pass and that its title be as aforesaid.

Resolved, That the Clerk request the concurrence of the Senate therein.

On motion of Mr. Aldrich-

Resolved, That a committe of five be appointed to examine if any alteration is necessary to be made in the division of the State into Senatorial districts and that they report by bill or otherwise. Ordered, That Messrs. Aldrich, Peavey, Bachelder of Allenstown, Colby of Weare, and Gales, be the committee.

On motion of Mr. Noyes-

Resolved, That the committee on the Judiciary be instructed. to enquire into the expediency of providing by law that minors who are exempted from their parents, shall be liable for the payment of all debts of their own contracting, and that they report by bill or otherwise.

On motion of Mr. Weeks-

Resolved, That a committee be appointed with such as the Senate may join to wait upon the governor and inform him that prayers will be attended in the Representative's Hall at fifteen minutes before ten o'clock on each day of the session.

Ordered, That Messrs. Weeks, Prentiss and Towle of Hampton, be the committee.

Ordered, That the Clerk inform the Senate thereof.

Resolved, That the committee on the State House, on the part of the House be instructed to examine the fire places in the Repre

On motion of Mr. Ingalls of Shelburne

Resolved, That a committee be appointed to take into consideration the message of His Excellency the Governor, and that they report the disposition to be made of the several subjects embraced therein.

Ordered, That Messrs. Chamberlain, Ingalls of Shelburn,and Hill of Loudon,be the committee.

A Message from the Senate, by their Clerk

Also in the passage of a resolution appointing a committe to wait on the Governor and Council and inform them of the time of prayers, and have on their part joined Mr. Jackson.

On motion of Mr. Wild-

Resolved, That the select committee of the several Counties to which was referred the subject of the appointment of a committee in relation to the subject of a new proportion for the assessment of taxes, be authorized to call together the delegates of the several Counties for the purpose of nominating the several members of the apportionment committee.

On motion of Mr. Frost

Resolved, That when the House adjourn this forenoon, they adjourn to meet on Monday next at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. And then the House adjourned.

Mr. Groton, presented the petition of J. C Plummer and others, that the petition of William Claggett and others, for a bridge at Furber's Ferry may be granted.

Ordered, That it be referred to the committee on the Judiciary. Mr. French, from the joint committee on engrossed Bills reported, That they have carefully examined the bill entitled "An act to authorize Registers of Probate to adjourn Courts of Probate in certain cases and find the same correctly engrossed."

Said bill was signed by the Speaker.

Ordered, That the Clerk inform the Senate thereof.

Mr. Frost, from the select committee consisting of the delegation from the county of Sullivan, who were appointed to make a nomination of three persons as a part of the committee on the inventories, made a report which was read.
