TERRITORY OF WISCONSIN,

MUSCATINE COUNTY.

'Benjamin Nye, of the county of Muscatine, and town of Montpelier, Wisconsin Territory, being duly sworn by me, deposeth and saith, that he has been an inhabitant of the territory of Wisconsin since the spring of 1834, and that he has been an inhabitant of the now town of Montpelier since the time aforesaid, and that A. W. M'Gregor lives about eighteen miles from this deponent's residence. And further, that he has been acquainted with the said A. W. M'Gregor since November 1st, 1835. And further this deponent saith, that between the date last aforesaid and the date of these presents, he, this deponent, has had frequent deals, and has made many bargains, and has had much business to transact with the said A. W. M'Gregor; and in all has found him of an irreproachable character, and has yet to find him guilty of a breach of truth and veracity.

And further this deponent saith not. Dated Montpelier December 27, 1837. BENJAMIN NYE.

Sworn and subscribed before me, a justice of the peace in and for the county of Muscatine, this 27th day of December, in the year A. D. 1837.

Resolved, By the Council and House of Representatives of the territory of Wisconsin, That the following entitled acts, selected from those now in force in this territory, be printed and published as an appendix to the pamphlet laws of the present

session.

1. An act to authorize the board of supervisors to ascertain township lines in certain cases.

2. An act to aid in the raising of sheep.

3. An act respecting marks and brands of horses, cattle, sheep, and hogs.

4. An act to regulate the mode of petitioning the legislative council, in certain cases.

5. An act to establish circuit courts in certain counties, and to define their powers and duties.

6. An act to preserve the decisions of certain courts therein named.

7. An act to provide for the appointment of supreme court commissioners in certain counties, and to define their powers and duties.

8. An act to prescribe the mode of proving, in courts of this territory, judgments rendered by justices of the peace, in the several states.

9. An act to provide for the appointment of sheriffs, and to define their powers.

10. An act concerning notaries public.

11. An act prescribing the manner of devising lands, tenements, and hereditaments.

12. An act to provide for the partition of lands.

13. An act to abolish entries, and to confirm conveyances

by tenants in tail, and to regulate the mode of conveyances to joint tenants.

14. An act concerning deeds and conveyances.

15. An act amendatory to "An act concerning deeds and conveyances."

16. An act authorizing aliens to purchase and hold real estate in this territory.

17. An act concerning mortgages.

18. An act for the filing and recording of wills proved without this territory, and for taking affidavits in writing for the probate of wills in certain cases.

19. An act to enable grantees of reversions and lessees mutually to avail themselves of covenants and conditions.

20. An act directing the settlement of estates of persons deceased, and for the conveyance of real estate in certain cases. 21. An act establishing courts of probate.

30. An act authorizing administrators de bonis non to prosecute suits commenced by the executor or administrator of the estate, and for other purposes.

31. An act to amend an act, entitled "An act authorizing administrators de bonis non to prosecute suits commenced by the executor or administrator of the estate, and for other purposes;" approved July 3d, 1828.

32. An act authorizing executors and administrators to make sale of real estate, mortgaged to their testators or intestates, and such as they shall take in execution in certain cases.

34. An act to compel executors, living without the territory, to settle their accounts; and to oblige administrators and guardians, not being inhabitants of this territory, to give bonds, with proper sureties, for the performance of their trust.
