The Messrs. Hall, of Neasdon, have added Tearaway, Chabron (late Dromedary), and Pitsford to the stud at Dudding Hill, while they have disposed of Kremlin and Epirus. The latter goes to the Curragh, there having been a swap with this horse and Tearaway. West Australian goes to Kirkby Farm, near Tadcaster, next season. His subscription is for thirty mares, at 50 guineas each; Lord Londesbro' to send ten of his own.

A very bad settling over the St. Leger has not done much to increase the spirit of speculation on coming events. The Derby requires but little comment at our hands. What has been done, either by the nags themselves or their admirers, speaks but more and more to the extraordinary strength of John Scott's team-Græculus, Bonnie Morn, and De Clare, to begin with. It is only to be hoped there may be no mistake this time in finding out which is the best of them. The victory of Rifleman (on whom Mrs. O. is said to have won £3000 at Goodwood) over the grey at Newmarket, and the second downfall of Dirk Hatteraik within a fortnight, has added some zest to next year's Derby. The grey (as the telegraph observed) "was much spurred," and Dirk evidently requires a distance; while Rifleman's performance did not push him to more than 15 to 1 for Epsom, with plenty of layers. Apropos of Acrobat, we have just heard a rumour that Admiral Rous wrote a strong letter to Lord Derby last week impugning John Scott's conduct, and that as soon as the letter was handed to Mr. S., he requested the Admiral to name his attorney. The Admiral, it is now averred, has qualified his remarks. Really the public backed Acrobat in the very teeth of the stable's declaration, that Boiardo had worsted him in a trial; and, therefore, they did so at their own risk. But still, when Lord Derby had of course decided to with Boiardo if possible, it is to be regretted that he did not declare to do so. We hear that Mr.

Mavors has confirmed his break down in both front legs.

A great pot for the Cesarewitch in Muscovite, and but little as yet doing on the Cambridgeshire, will comprehend all we need say here on the October handicaps,
