House bill entitled

H. 11. An act to incorporate the Queen City Fire Insurance Company;

Was taken up as a special order for this time.

The question being, Shall the bill be read the third time? Mr. Abell moved to amend in section eight, lines nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen and fourteen, by striking therefrom the words," and the shares of stock in said corporation shall be exempt from taxation under the laws of this State for the period of five years from the time said corporation commences making contracts of insurance;"

Which motion was agreed to.

The question being, Shall the bill as amended be read the third time? it was decided in the affirmative.

Which was read the first and second time, and the question being, Shall the bill be read the third time? on motion of Mr. Miner, it was

Ordered that rules numbers twenty-five and twenty-six be suspended as to the bill under consideration.

The question then being, Shall the bill be read the third time? it was decided in the affirmative, and said bill was read the third time at this time and passed.

Reading of the Scriptures and prayer by the Chaplain. Journal of yesterday read, amended and approved.

Mr. Dunn presented the petition of Daniel G. Perry and one hundred and forty-eight others, citizens of Johnson, praying for the repeal of certain acts enabling towns to aid in the construction of railroads.

The reading thereof being demanded by Mr. Dunn, the same was read and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary.

Mr. Pingry offered the following joint resolution :

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives, That the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives be and they are hereby directed to adjourn their respective Houses without day, on Friday, November 6th, at three o'clock in the afternoon;

Which was read, and the question being, Shall the resolution be adopted on the part of the House? on motion of Mr. Brigham, said resolution was
