Whereupon the Speaker declared that George F. Edmunds had received a majority of the whole number of votes thus cast, and was elected, on the part of the House, a senator in Congress of the United States, from the State of Vermont, for the term of six years from the third day of March, A. D. 1869.

On motion of Mr. Miner, the House adjourned.

Mr. Grout offered the following joint resolution:

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives, That the Governor is hereby authorized to collect the arms, ammunition and quartermaster stores belonging to the State, and make such deposit and disposition of the same as he shall deem advisable; provided, this authority shall not be construed to authorize the sale of such arms, ammunition and stores;
