Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children.

And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands, establish thou it.

Thirty-First Day, P. M.

CXLVIII.

PRAISE ye the Lord! praise ye the Lord from the

heavens: praise him in the heights.

Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts.

Praise ye, him sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light.

Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens.

Let them praise the name of the Lord: for he commanded, and they were created.

He hath stablished them forever and ever: he hath made a decree which shall not pass.

Praise ye the Lord from the earth, ye dragons, and all deeps:

Fire and hail; snow and vapor: stormy wind fulfilling his word:

Mountains, and all hills; fruitful trees, and all cedars : Beasts and all cattle; creeping things, and flying fowl; Kings of the earth, and all people; princes, and all judges of the earth:

Both young men, and maidens; old men, and children: let them praise the name of the Lord:

For his name alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven.

He also exalteth the horn of his people, the praise of all his saints;

Even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him. Praise ye the Lord!

PSALMS XXIII AND XXIV.

The Selections for the Ninth and the Tenth Days, A. M.

For Christmas.

ISAIAH XL, XLII.

COMFORT ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.

Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned for she hath received of the Lord's hand double for all her sins.

The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low:

And the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain.

And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.

The grass withereth, the flower fadeth; because the spirit of the Lord bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass. The grass withereth, the flower fadeth; but the word of our God shall stand forever.

O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain:

O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength: lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Juda, Behold your God!

Behold, the Lord God will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold his reward is with him, and his work before him.

He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather

the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.

Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth;

I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.

He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.

A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.

He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.

Α'

From Psalms and Isaiah.

LL the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the Lord, and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee:

For the kingdom is the Lord's, and he is the Governor among the nations.

Send forth thy light and thy truth, O Lord: let them lead us to thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacle, even unto God, our exceeding joy.

Thou wilt show us the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy at thy right hand there are pleasures for

evermore.

Thy mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens, and thy faithfulness is above the clouds. Thy righteousness is like the great mountains: thy judgments are a great deep.

How excellent is thy loving-kindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.

They shall be abundantly satisfied with the blessing of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.

For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.

Thy mercy, O Lord, endureth forever, and thy memorial throughout all generations.

We will bless the Lord from this time forth, and forever

more.

Whom have we in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that we desire beside thee.

HE Lord shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her

Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord:

Joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

For the Lord shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.

And in this mountain shall the Lord of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.

And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.

He will swallow up death in victory, and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces;

And the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it.

MERCIFUL God, who hast made all men, and hatest nothing that thou hast made, nor desirest the death of a sinner, but rather that he should be converted and live; have mercy upon all Jews, Turks, Infidels, and Heretics; and take from them all ignorance, hardness of heart, and contempt of thy word; and so fetch them home, blessed Lord, to thy flock, that they may be saved among the
