ADDENDA.

Directions to the Treasurers-at-war to pay sums not exceeding 10,000l. to the Comissary sent over by the Lord Deputy of Ireland to provide beer, victuals, &c. for the soldiers for their sea voyage, on orders of Cols. George Cooke or Solomon Richards, sent to superintend the voyage.

To pay 8d. a day per man for quarters to each man waiting at the waterside for wind or shipping.

To pay officers, &c: employed in raising and conducting the recruits according to the Irish establishment, from the expiration of the six weeks' pay advanced till their sailing.

To pay to the shipmasters, for carying over the recruits, sums agreed on by Cooke and Richards. [I. 101, pp. 93, 94.]

Warrant that-whereas by orders of Parliament of 15 Oct. and 16 Nov. 1646, 400,000l. was borrowed on security of the grand Excise, and of the sale of bishops' lands, and by Act of 21 June 1649, as much thereof as had been paid from bishops' lands was to stand charged on the Excise, which was 371,000l., whereof 350,000l. was by warrant of Council to be paid to John Jackson-the balance of 21,000l. he also paid to him by the Commissioners of Excise. [I. 102, p. 17.]

Warrant to the Commissioners of Excise that as several lenders Whitehall. of the first 400,000l. have their accounts depending for contracts imperfected, and as the Gurney House treasurers usually deliver to such lenders certificates for their interest, which should be allowed as defalcation on purchases-the payment of arrears of interest be forborne till the matter is fully considered. [I. 102, p. 18.]

Commission to John Jackson to be treasurer of all moneys due on the first 400,000l., payable out of the Excise by ordinance of 16 Nov. 1646, for sale of bishops' lands, and of all sums transferred from the Excise on the credit of deans' and chapters' lands, with interest; to be disposed of by direction of Council. [I. 102, p. 28.]

Warrant to John Jackson that-whereas he was appointed on 16 June last treasurer of certain moneys from sale of bishops' and deans' and chapters' lands-he is to advance 10,000l. thereof for payment of interest to those who advanced moneys on security thereof. [I. 102, p. 46.]
