Ordered, That the Secretary of the Senate prepare and cause to be printed under his supervision and direction, four hundred copies of the Journal of the proceedings of the present session of the Senate.

Pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution and the laws of the State of Maine, the Senators-elect to the Sixty-Ninth Legislature convened in the Senate Chamber and were called to order by Kendall M. Dunbar, Secretary of the Senate of 1897-'98.

Prayer was offered by Rev. Mr. Newbert of Augusta.

The following communication was read by the Secretary:

To the Secretary of the Senate:

In compliance with section 25 of chapter 2 of the Revised Statutes, I hereby certify that the following are the names and residences of the Senators-elect to the Sixty-Ninth Legislature, as appears by the report of the Governor and Council, under date of October 25, 1898, to wit:
