GRATITUDE.

C. M.

28.
WHEN all thy mercies, O my God,

My rising socl surveys
Transported with the view, I'm lost

In wonder, love, and praise !
2 Thy providence my life sustain's,

And all my wants redrest,
When I a helpless infant lay,

And hung upon the breast. 3 To all my woak complaints and cries

Thy mercy lent an ear,
Ere yet my feeble thoughts had learnt

To form themselves in prayer.
4 Unnumber'd blessings on my soul,

Thy tender care bestow'd,
Before my infant heart conceiv'd

From whence those blessings flow'd.

WHENE'ER I take my walks abroad,

How many poor I see!
What shall I render to my God

For al. his gifts to me?

2 While some poor wretches scarce can tell

Where they may lay their head, I have a home wherein to dwell,

And rest upon my bed.
3 While others early learn to swear,

And curse, and lie, and steal,
Lord, I am taught thy name to fear,

And do thy holy will.
4 Are these thy favours day by day

To me above the rest!
Then let me love thee more than they,

And try to serve thee best.

30.

L. M.
Great God, to thee my voice I raise,
To thee my youngest hours belong;
I would begin my life with praise,

Till growing years improve the song. 2 'Tis to thy sov’reign graco I owe,

That I was born on Christian ground,
Where strcams of heavenly mercy flow,

And words of sweet salvation sound. 3 How do I pity those that dwell

Where ignorance and darkness reign;
They know no heaven, they fear no hell,
Those endless joys, those endless pains.

4 Thy praise shall still employ my breath,

Sinco thou hast mark'd my way to heaven,
Nor will I run the road to death,
And waste the blessings thou hast given.

The soul untaught is dark as night,

Where every evil dwells;
All hail instruction's sacred light,

Which all this night dispels.
2 Ou: Sabbaths once in vain we spent,

Neglected and unblest :
But now the house of prayer frequent,

To keep the sacred rest.
3 Jesus invites young children near,

O may we straight obey!
Give us, O Lord, th' attentive ear,
And teach our hearts to pray.
32,

C. M.
Our feeble voices, Lord, we raise,

Before thy gracious throne;
0! tune our hicarts to sing thy praise,

For all thy mercies shown.
2 Thy watchful eye, thy guardian hand,

Supports us every hour;
And in thy house this day we stand,

Thy goodness to adore.

3 Incline our hearts to seek thy face,

The Saviour's name to love ; And form us by almighty graca,

For nobler praise abovo.

PRAYER.

33.

L. M. GRÈAT God, behold, before thy throno, A band of children lowly bend; Thy faco we seek, thy name we own,

Arid pray that thou wilt be our friond. 2 Thy Holy Spirit's aid impart,

Thit ho may teach us how to pray ;
Make us sincere, and let each heart

Delight to tread in wisdom's way. 3 O let thy grace our souls renew,

And soal a sonso of pardon thoro;
Teach us thy will to know and do,
And let us all thy image bear.
34.

7's.
LORD, we come before theo now,
At thy teot we humbly bow;
0! do not our suit disdain,
Shall we seek thee, Lord, in vain ?

2 Lord, on thee our souls depcnd,

In compassion now descend;
Fill our hearts with thy rich grace,

Tuno our lips to sing thy praise. 3 In thine own appointed way,

Now we seek thee,--hero we stay ;
Lord, we know not how to go,
Till a blessing thou bestow.

35.

C. M.
For a heart to praise my God,

A heart from sin set free;
A heart that always feels thy blood

So freely spilt for me!
2 A heart resign'd, submissive, meek,

My great Redeemer's throne; Where only Christ is heard io speak,

Where Jesus reigns alone. 3 An humble, lowly, contrito heart,

Bolioving, true, and clean ; Which neither life nor death can part

From him that dwells within.
4 A heart in every thought renew'd,

And full of love divine;
Perfect, and right, und pure, and good,

A copy, Lord, of thive.
