SHORT OFFICE OF PREPARATION

BEFORE CELEBRATION

IN

N the Name of the FATHER, and of the Son, and of the
HOLY GHOST.

Ry Amen.

LORD, have mercy upon us.
CHRIST, have mercy upon us.
LORD, have mercy upon us.

UR FATHER, Which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy

Ο Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in

earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil For Thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, For ever and ever. Amen.

* I

LOOK for the LORD, my soul doth wait for Him.
Ry In His Word is my trust.

My soul fleeth unto the LORD.

R Before the morning watch, I say, before the morning watch.

O Israel, trust in the LORD, for with the LORD there is mercy,

R And with Him is plenteous redemption.

And He shall redeem Israel

Ry From all his sins.

Let us pray.

O

LORD our GOD, grant us so to receive the Body and Blood of Thy SON, our LORD JESUS CHRIST, that by means thereof we may receive forgiveness of all our sins, and be filled with Thy HOLY SPIRIT, O our GOD, Who livest and reignest world without end.

CLE

LEANSE us, O LORD, from our secret faults, and mercifully absolve us from our presumptuous sins, that we may receive Thy Holy Things with a pure mind; through JESUS CHRIST, Our LORD.

RANT, O LORD, that our bodies may be sanctified by Thy Holy Body, and our souls purified by Thine Atoning Blood, and that they may avail for the pardon of our offences and remission of our sins. Glory be to Thee for ever, O LORD GOD.

LORD, we are not worthy that Thou shouldst come under our roof, but, relying on Thy lovingkindness, we draw near to Thine Altar; sick men, to the Physician of life; blind, to the Light of eternal brightness; poor, to the LORD of Heaven and earth; naked, to the King of Glory; sheep, to their Shepherd; creatures, to their Creator; desolate, to the loving Comforter; miserable, to the Merciful; criminals, to the Giver of pardon; ungodly, to the Justifier; hardened, to the Infuser of grace; beseeching Thine exuberant and infinite mercy, that it may please Thee to heal our weakness, to wash our foulness, to enlighten our blindness, to enrich our poverty, to clothe our nakedness, to bring us back from our wanderings, to console our desolation, to reconcile our guiltiness, to give

pardon to the sinner, forgiveness to the miserable, life to the criminal, justification to the dead; so that we may be enabled to receive Thee, the BREAD of Angels, the KING of kings and LORD of lords; with such chastity of body and purity of mind, such contrition of heart and plenteous sorrow, such spiritual gladness and heavenly joy, such fear and trembling, such reverence and honour, such faith and humility, such purpose and love, such devotion and thanksgiving, as are due and meet ; so that it may profit us unto life eternal and remission of all our sins.

B

EHOLD, O GOD our Defender,

R And look upon the face of Thine ANOINted. What reward shall I give unto the LORD, for all the benefits He hath done unto me?

Ry I will receive the Cup of Salvation, and call upon the Name of the LORD.

I will go into His Tabernacle,

R And fall low on my knees before His Footstool.

I will confess my wickedness,

R And be sorry for my sin.

I will take heed to my ways,

Ry That I offend not in my tongue.

I will keep my mouth as it were with a bridle,
While the ungodly is in my sight.

I will wash my hands in innocency, O GOD,

R And so will I go to Thine Altar.

Let us pray.

LORD JESUS CHRIST, SON of the living GOD, interpose

Thy Passion, Cross, and Death, between Thy Judgement and our Souls, now and in the hour of death.

Vouchsafe to give us grace and mercy, pardon to the living, rest to the dead, peace to Thy CHURCH, and to all sinners life and everlasting glory: Who livest and reignest, with the FATHER and the HOLY GHOST, One GOD, world without end.

GOD, Who under this marvellous Sacrament hast left us a Memorial of Thy Passion; grant, we beseech Thee, that we may so venerate the sacred Mysteries of Thy Body and Blood, that we may ever feel within us the fruit of Thy Redemption; Who livest and reignest, with the FATHER, in the Unity of the HOLY GHOST, One GOD, world without end. Amen.

то

O GOD the FATHER, Who first loved us, and made us accepted in the Beloved; to GOD the SON, Who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own Blood; to God the HOLY GHOST, Who shed the Love of GOD abroad in our hearts, be all Love and all Glory, for time and for eternity. Amen.

LORY be to the FATHER, and to the SON and to the
HOLY GHOST ;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: world without end. Amen.

The LORD hath done great things for us,

R7 Whereof we rejoice.

They that sow in tears

Ry Shall reap in joy.

Antiphon. O that men would therefore praise the LORD.

MY

Magnificat

Y soul doth magnify the LORD and my spirit hath rejoiced in GOD my Saviour.

For He hath regarded the lowliness of His handmaiden. For behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

For He that is mighty hath magnified me and HOLY is His Name.

And His mercy is on them that fear Him throughout all generations.
