MOTIONS, RESOLUTIONS, AND NOTICES.

Mr. Sheley gave notice that on some future day he would ask leave to introduce

A bill to appoint a board of State building commissioners, to provide for the erection of fire-proof offices, and to make an appropriation for the erection of a new State capitol.

Mr. Emerson gave notice that on some future day he would ask leave to introduce

A bill to amend section 65, of chapter 14, of the revised statutes of 1846, being section 406 of the compiled laws, relative to county offices.

Mr. Morton gave notice that on some future day he would ask leave to introduce

A bill to amend the general banking law, entitled "An act to authorize the business of banking," approved February 16, 1857, and the acts amendatory thereto, so as to provide for the organization of savings banks.

Mr. Barber moved to reconsider the vote by which the Senate yesterday passed

Senate bill No. 12, entitled

A bill to amend section 9, of act No. 65, of the session laws of 1869, entitled "An act to provide for the further geological survey of the State;"

Which motion prevailed.

The question being on the passage of the bill,

Mr. Randall moved that the bill be re-committed to the com

mittee on the geological survey;

Which motion prevailed.

Mr. Randall moved to reconsider the vote by which the Senate yesterday passed Senate bill No. 11, entitled

A bill making an appropriation to the State board of geological survey for the publication of the reports of the survey; Which motion prevailed.

On motion of Mr. Randall,

The bill was re-committed to the committee on geological survey.

Mr. Emerson, previous notice having been given and leave granted, introduced

A bill to amend section 6, of chapter 124, being section 4160 of the compiled laws of 1857, relative to pleadings and setoffs;

A bill to amend section 2, of chapter 140, of the revised statutes of 1846, being section 5362 of the compiled laws, relative to limitations of actions;

Also,

A bill to repeal section 20, of chapter 140, of the revised statutes of 1846, being section 3580 of the compiled laws.

The bills were read a first and second time by their titles, and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

Mr. Randall, previous notice having been given and leave granted, introduced

A bill for the prevention of cruelty to animals, and to repeal section 5879 of the compiled laws.

The bill was read a first and second time by its title, and referred to the committee on religious and benevolent societies. Mr. Barber, previous notice having been given and leave granted, introduced

A bill to amend section 8, of act number 163, of the session laws of 1861, relative to laying out, altering, and discontinuing highways, and to add three new sections thereto;

Also,

A bill to amend section one, of act number 140, of the session laws of 1869, being sections 100, 102, 103, 105, and 106 of the revised statutes of 1846, being sections 448, 450, 451, 453, and 454 of the compiled laws, relating to the duties and compensation of county supervisors.

The bills were read a first and second time by their titles, and referred to the committee on State affairs.

Mr. Romeyn, previous notice having been given and leave granted, introduced

A bill to amend section 3, of act number 125, of the session laws of 1869, entitled "An act to amend an act to provide for the registration of births, marriages, and deaths," being act number 194, session laws of 1867, approved March 27, 1867, and to add a new section thereto.

The bill was read a first and second time by its title, and referred to the committee on State affairs.

Mr. Moffatt, previous notice having been given and leave granted, introduced

A bill to repeal act 67 of the session laws of 1869, being an act entitled "An act to declare and establish the practice in charging or instructing juries and in settling the law in cases tried in circuit courts," approved March 26, 1869.

The bill was read a first and second time by its title and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

The Sergeant-at-Arms announced the Private Secretary of the Governor, who transmitted to the Senate a message from the Governor, on executive business.

EXECUTIVE SESSION.

On motion of Mr. Morton,

The Senate went into executive session at 114 o'clock A. M. The executive session closed at 11 o'clock A. M.

Mr. Randall, unanimous consent being given, moved to reconsider the vote by which the Senate yesterday passed the following concurrent resolution:

Resolved (the Senate concurring), That when the Legislature adjourns on Wednesday, the 25th instant, such adjournment be until Friday, the 3d day of February, to afford the various committees appointed to visit the State institutions, time to discharge said duty;

Which motion prevailed.

The question recurring on the adoption of the resolution, Mr. Emerson moved to reconsider the vote by which the Senate amended the resolution, by striking out "Friday, the 27th," and inserting in place thereof "Wednesday, the 25th;"

also, by striking out "Tuesday, the 7th," and inserting in place thereof "Friday, the 3d ;"

Which motion prevailed.

The question recurring on agreeing to the amendment,

Mr. Sheley moved to amend the amendment by inserting in place of" Wednesday, the 25th," the words " Tuesday the 31st;" also, by inserting in place of "Friday, the 3d," the words "Wednesday, the 8th."

Mr. Emerson offered the following as a substitute to the resolution and amendments:

Resolved (the House concurring), That when the two Houses adjourn on the 31st day of January, they stand adjourned until the 8th day of February, 1871, at 10 o'clock A. M.; Which was adopted.

The question being on concurring in the resolutions as amended by the substitute,

Mr. Moffatt called for the yeas and nays.

The resolution was then not concurred in, the following being the vote thereon:
