Was read a third time, and, pending the taking of the vote on the passage thereof,

Mr. Morton, a majority of the Senate consenting thereto, moved to amend the bill, by striking out all of section 3 after the figures "1872," in line 5;

Which was agreed to.

Mr. Sheley, a majority of the Senate consenting thereto, moved to further amend the bill, by striking out the word "ten" in line 3, and inserting in place thereof the word "eight;" Which was not agreed to.

Mr. Wheeler, a majority of the Senate consenting thereto, moved to further amend the bill by striking out in line 3 of section 4, the words "eight hundred ;"
