Completum per me Leonardum de Aquisgrano, 1494 From the coats of arms and the portraits of the noble personages, lay and clerical, which fill the borders of this imposing volume, we may conclude that it was executed by order of one of the princes who assisted at the coronation of Maximilian as King of the Romans, although from the costly and magnificent scale on which the calligrapher worked, he was unable to finish his labour till seven years later. The name of Leonard of Aachen deserves special record as that of a scribe and artist of extraordinary power. 11092 HORÆ B. V.
