FAREWELL! but when May once more comes

round,

And the beautiful flowers are springing,

And young leaves peep from the yielding ground, And nature is gladly flinging

Her brightest treasures from out her urn,

At that joyful moment will I return.

The gloom of November is in the sky,
The fair blue heavens o'ershading;
And the wintry storm is hurrying by,
And the last few flowers are fading-
Though all be now wrapt in sadness and grief,
Joy shall return with the bursting leaf.

And features that now are overcast,

And eyes that are dim with sadness,

When the days of weeping at length are past,
Shall brighten up with gladness;

And our morning of bliss shall seem more bright,
After the darkness of sorrow's night.
