THE following Sermons were preached in consequence of the untiring efforts made in this city, during the past winter, against the doctrine of impartial grace, and the unchristian measures employed to cast reproach upon its advocates. The religion to which the sermons are devoted, is dear to the author; and he finds, in the weapons with which he and his brethren were assailed, a reason for renewed diligence in its defence, that the world may be saved from those false views which fill the hearts of their believers with bitterness, and tend to destroy the order and peace of society. The sermons attracted an unusual degree of attention, and were instrumental in bringing many to rejoice in the goodness of God.
