7 What wondrous love, what mysteries, In this appointment shine! My breaches of the law are his, And his obedience mine!
1 JESUS, my All, to heaven is gone, He whom I fix my hopes upon; and I'll pursue
The narrow way till him I view.
2 The way the holy prophets went, The road that leads from banishment, The King's highway of holiness, I'll go, for all his paths are peace. 3 This is the way I long have sought, And mourn'd because I found it not; My grief, my burden long has been, Because I could not cease from sin. 4 The more I strove against its power, I sinn'd and stumbled but the more; Till late I heard my Saviour say, "Come hither, soul, I am the way.” 5 Lo! glad I come, and thou, blest Lamb, Shalt take me to thee as I am; Nothing but sin I thee can give; Nothing but love shall I receive.
6 Then will I tell to sinners round What a dear Saviour I have found; I'll point to thy redeeming blood, And say, "Behold the way to God!"
The Triumph of Faith. [Tune, Triumph. 1 HEAD of the church triumphant, We joyfully adore thee; "Till thou appear,
Thy members here
Shall sing like those in glory. We lift our hearts and voices With blest anticipation, And cry aloud,
And give to God
The praise of our salvation! 2 While in affliction's furnace, And passing thro' the fire, Thy love we praise, Which knows our days, And ever brings us nigher. We clap our hands exulting In thine almighty favour; The Lord divine,
Which made us thine,
Shall keep us thine for ever. 3 Thou dost conduct thy people Thro' torrents of temptation; Nor will we fear,
Whilst thou art near,
The fire of tribulation.
The world, with sin and Satan, In vain our march opposes, By thee we shall
Break thro' them all,
And sing the song of Moses.
4 By faith we see the glory, To which thou shalt restore us, The cross despise
For that high prize
Which thou hast set before us. And if thou count us worthy, We each, as dying Stephen, Shall see thee stand
At God's right hand, To take us up to heaven.
UR God, how firm his promise stands, E'en when he hides his face!
He trusts in our Redeemer's hands
His glory and his
2 Then why, my soul, these sad complaints, Since Christ and we are one?
Thy God is faithful to his saints,
Is faithful to his Son.
3 Beneath his smiles my heart hath liv'd, And part of heav'n possess'd;
I thank him for the grace receiv'd, And trust him for the rest.
4 Jesus, my God, I know his name; His name is all my trust;
He will not put my soul to shame, Nor let my hope be lost.
5 Firm as his throne his promise stands, And he can well secure
What I've committed to his hands Till the decisive hour.
6 Then will he own my worthless name Before his Father's face, And in the new Jerusalem Assign my soul a place.
1 HAPPY the man who finds the grace, The blessing of God's chosen race, The wisdom coming from above, The faith that sweetly works by love! 2 Happy beyond description he Who knows the Saviour dy'd for me; The gift unspeakable obtains, And heav'nly understanding gains! 3 Wisdom divine! who tells the price Of Wisdom's costly merchandize? Wisdom to silver we prefer,
And gold is dross compar'd with her. 4 He finds, who Wisdom apprehends, A life begun that never ends ; The tree of life divine she is, Set in the midst of paradise.
5 Happy the man who wisdom gains, In whose obedient heart she reigns; He owns, and will for ever own, Wisdom and Christ and heav'n are one.
1 T HOU, who for sinners once wast slain, Once dead, but now alive again, Give me to know, to taste, to prove, The pow'r and sweetness of thy love! 2 Give me to feel my sins forgiv'n, And know myself an heir of heav'n; My conscience sprinkle with thy blood, And fill me with the love of God!
Redeeming Love. Tune, Ophir.
1 Now begin the heav'nly theme, Sing aloud in Jesu's name, Ye who Jesu's kindness prove, Triumph in Redeeming Love! 2 Ye, who see the Father's grace Beaming in the Saviour's face, As to Canaan on ye move, Praise and bless Redeeming Love! 3 Mourning souls, dry up your tears, Banish all your guilty fears; See your guilt and curse remove, Cancell'd by Redeeming Love! 4 Welcome all by sin oppress'd, Welcome to his sacred rest; Nothing brought him from above, Nothing but Redeeming Love!
