SENATE JOURNAL.

Lansing, January 7, 1850.

This being the day designated by the Constitution of the State for the assembling of the Legislature, the Senate met in their Chamber at the Capitol, at 11 o'clock, A, M., and was called to order by Hon. Wm. M. Fenton, Lieutenant Governor and President of the Senate. On motion, Horace S. Roberts, of Wayne county, was appointed Secretary pro tem.

The roll was called by the Secretary, when the following Senators answered to their names: Messrs. Baxter, Dort, Finley, Hart, King, McKinney, Roof, Snow, Summers, Walbridge and Webb.

The names of the Senators elect were then called, and the following members, their credentials having been presented, severally answered, and subscribed the constitutional oath of office, administered by the President, and took their seats as Senators, viz: 1st District-Andrew Harvie, Joseph T. Copeland. 2d District-Michael Shoemaker, Nelson G. Isbell. 3d District-Alfred French, Isaac P. Christiancy.

4th District-Henry H. Riley.

5th District-Charles Dickey.

6th District-Thornton F. Brodhead, Noah Beach.

7th District-John Bowne.

The President then called Hon. A. N. Hart, President pro tempore, to the chair.
