Where Burns originally wrote a coarse line, which he afterwards replaced by another, the second reading is given, as more in harmony with modern taste. The Editor has to thank Mrs. Ogilby, for collating the texts, and Mr. Craibe Angus, for kindly lending examples of early and rare editions.
