+7 IN JOINT ASSEMBLY, October 13, A. D. 1865, 11 o'clock, A. M. The Senate and House of Representatives met in Joint Assembly in the Hall of the House of Representatives, in pursuance of a joint resolution of the two Houses, which is as follows: Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives, That both Houses meet in Joint Assembly at eleven o'clock, to-morrow morning, to hear the report of the Committee appointed to canvass the votes for Governor, Lieutenant Governor and Treasurer. The Canvassing Committee submitted a report, which was, read, and is as follows: The Committee appointed to canvass the votes for Governor, Lieutenant Governor and Treasurer, report the number of votes returned, as follows: (Signed) LEWIS MEACHAM, for Committee. And thereupon the President of the Joint Assembly declared that the said Paul Dillingham, Abraham B. Gardner and John B. Page, are duly elected to the offices annexed to their names respectively, for the year ensuing. The President appointed Messrs. Reed of the Senate, and Rounds and Nicholson of the House, a committee to wait upon the Governor elect, inform him of his election, and that the Joint Assembly are ready to receive any communication which he may be pleased to make. The committee, through its chairman, Mr. Reed, subsequently reported that they had performed the duty assigned them; and were directed by his Excellency, the Governor elect, to inform the Hon. Joint Assembly that he proposed to receive the oath of office in the Executive Chamber this afternoon, at two o'clock, and immediately thereafter to transmit to the two Houses the Annual Executive Communication. M. } The Senate and House of Representatives met in Joint Assembly in the Hall of the House of Representatives, in pursuance of a joint resolution, which is as follows: Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives, That the two Houses meet in Joint Assembly in the Hall of the House of Representatives, on Wednesday next, at three o'clock, in the afternoon, to elect a Secretary of State, Sergeant-at-Arms, Auditor of Accounts, Superintendent of the State Prison, Commissioner of the Insane, Bank Commissioner, Railroad Commissioner, Adjutant and Inspector General, Quartermaster General, Judge Advocate General, and three Directors of the State Prison for the year ensuing ; His Honor, ABRAHAM B. GARDNER, President of the Senate, in the chair; GEORGE NICHOLS, Secretary of State, Clerk. The Joint Assembly then proceeded to the election of the officers named in the foregoing resolution, and the following elections were made by a viva voce vote: GEORGE NICHOLS, of Northfield, Secretary of State. ZEBINA C. CAMP, of Montpelier, Sergeant-at-Arms. DUGALD STEWART, of Middlebury, Auditor of Accounts. JAMES A. POLLARD, of Windsor, Superintendent of State Prison. ERASMUS D. WARNER, of New Haven, Commissioner of the Insane. ASA R. CAMP, of Stowe, Bank Commissioner. The Joint Assembly then proceeded to elect a Railroad Commissioner, and the ballots having been taken and examined by the tellers, it appeared, upon the second ballot, that DAVID E. NICHOLSON, of Wallingford, was duly elected to that office for the year ensuing. The Joint Assembly then made the following elections by a viva voce vote: PETER T. WASHBURN, of Woodstock, Adjutant and Inspector General. PERLEY P. PITIKN, of Montpelier, Quartermaster General. JOHN S. MARCY, of Royalton, Judge Advocate General. CHARLES A. FORBUSH, of Springfield, First Director of State Prison. SAMUEL MERRIAM, of Johnson, Second Director of State Prison. HENRY LANE, of Cornwall, Third Director of State Prison. M. } The Senate and House of Representatives met in Joint Assembly, in the Hall of the House of Representatives, in pursuance of a joint resolution, which is as follows: Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives, That the two Houses meet in Joint Assembly, on Thursday, the 19th instant, at three o'clock, in the afternoon, for the purpose of electing Judges of the Supreme Court, and Reporter of the Decisions of said court, for the year ensuing; His Honor, ABRAHAM B. GARDNER, President of the Senate, in the chair; GEORGE NICHOLS, Secretary of State, Clerk. The Joint Assembly then made the following elections by a viva voce vote: LUKE P. POLAND, of St. Johnsbury, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. JOHN PIERPOINT, of Vergennes, First Assistant Justice of the Supreme Court. JAMES BARRETT, of Woodstock, Second Assistant Justice of the Supreme Court. LOYAL C. KELLOGG, of Rutland,'" Third Assistant Justice of the Supreme Court. ASAHEL PECK, of Montpelier, Fourth Assistant Justice of the Supreme Court. The Joint Assembly then proceeded to the election of Fifth Assistant Justice of the Supreme Court, and the ballots having been taken and examined by the tellers, it appeared that WILLIAM C. WILSON, of Bakersfield, was duly elected to that office for the year ensuing. The Joint Assembly then proceeded to elect, by a viva voce vote, a Reporter of the Decisions of the Supreme Court, when WHEELOCK G. VEAZEY, of Rutland, was duly elected to that office. The Senate and House of Representatives met in Joint Assembly, in the Hall of the House of Representatives, in pursuance of a joint resolution, which is as follows: Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives, That the two Houses meet in Joint Assembly, on Thursday, October 26th, at three o'clock in the afternoon, to hear the report of the committee appointed to canvass the votes for county and probate officers, and if necessary to complete the election of such officers; His Honor, ABRAHAM B.
