THAT Pennsy-influenced truck might give you a hint as to the locale of this unusual photograph of railroad maintenance activity. At any rate, the showering sparks are caused by the wheel-grinding machine in the Morris Park Shops of the Long Island, and we're looking at the underside of an LIRR multiple-unit electric coach. Each year the railroad spends over 11 million dollars on maintenance of equipment.

BACK in early 1940 Baldwin delivered five small 2-8-4's to Norfolk Southern, a fact which
would ordinarily be of little more than regional interest. But some of NS's 600's wound
up in private ownership in Mexico. Finally diesels caught up with them there, and in
NdeM 3350, 3351, and 3354 - were set aside for scrap. Now the
October 1958 the last three-
news is that Aguascalientes Shops overhauled all three. Here's 3351 on February 12, 1961!
