Engine No.3 is recalled to active duty
1 IN the year 1855 Walt Whitman published Leaves of Grass and Longfellow wrote Song of Hiawatha, Kansas asked into the Union and Cyrus Field laid a telegraph cable from Nova Scotia to Newfoundland. There were approximately 27 million people in the country. And in Paterson, N. J., five builders (Danforth, Cooke; New Jersey Locomotive & Machine; Rogers, Ketchum & Grosvenor; Swinburne, Smith; and William Swinburne) constructed 148 locomotives.
