A bill to appropriate a certain sum of money therein named for extra work and material on capitol extension. Amend by adding after the words "committee rooms," in section 1, the following:

There is also hereby appropriated, out of any moneys in the state treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of six thousand dollars, or so much thereof as may be needed. for the purpose of the complete construction of a safe and commodious passenger elevator in or at the north traverse wing to the state capitol, according to the requirements and under the direction of and to the satisfaction of the board of commissioners above mentioned.

Which was adopted.

The bill was then read a third time and concurred in. The ayes and noes being required, it was decided in the affirmative; ayes, 30; noes, 2; not voting, 1.

A bill to limit the authorization of county asylums for the insane, and giving of state aid for the care and maintenance of the chronic insane by counties.

Amend section 1 by prefixing to said section the following: "The sum to be paid by the state to Milwaukee county for the care and maintenance of patients in its county asylum for the insane in any year, is hereby fixed at the average cost of the care and maintenance of patients in the state hospitals for the insane in the same year, less the sum charged back to counties for care and clothing, and the same may be paid semi-annually as now provided by law: one dollar each per week to be paid in July and the balance in January for every patient maintained by said county at public cost in said asylum,

On motion of Senator Ackley,

The amendment was laid upon the table.

On motion of senator Carey,

The rules were suspended, and

A bill to terminate the trust created by chapter 51 of the laws of 1866, to repeal the same and all acts amendatory thereof, and to reclaim certain lands to the state of Wisconsin. Senator Flint offered the following amendment to the amendment:

Strike out the words "board of Manitowoc and Calumet swamp land commissioners" where they occur in the bill, and insert "public land commissioners" in lieu thereof. Which was adopted.

The amendments as amended were adopted.
And the bill read a third time and concurred in.
