WHEREAS Contagious pleuro pneumonia in cattle is prevalent in the states of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland and the District of Columbia, and

WHEREAS, all efforts for its suppression by the states where it exists have been unsuccessful in arresting the spread and progress of said disease, and which has become so prevalent as to threaten and endanger the entire cattle interest of the country, and

WHEREAS, our export trade in live cattle has been dam

aged to the extent of many millions annually by the embargo laid by European governments on account of said diseases, therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate the Assembly, concurring. That the question has assumed national importance, demanding the immediate attention of congress. We would therefore respectfully call the earnest attention of our senators and representatives to the fact, and ask them to take such measures as will bring the subject up for action before the close of the present session.
