THE BIBLE GARDEN; or, a Familiar Description of all the Trees, Shrubs, Plants, and Herbs, mentioned in the Holy Scriptures, with their peculiar properties, the Conntries in which they flourished, and the Chapters in which they are mentioned. By JOSEPH TAYLOR, Author of "Remarkable Providences," &c. Embellished with 31 Plates, containing upwards of 80 Illustrations of the subjects described in the work, by W. H. BROOKE, F.S.A. Embossed cloth, 4s. 6d. (2645)

of the Authorised Translation arranged in Paragraphs, and illustrated by Rhetorical Punctuation. To be completed in Two Parts. By ALEXANDER BELL, Professor of Elocution. Part I. fcp. 8vo. 7s. 6d. cloth lettered.

"This Work must prove a valuable acquisition not only to the pulpit orator, but to all who desire in their families to read with propriety the Holy Scriptures. The division into paragraphs instead of verses is a decided improvement; the verses are, however, indicated by a small figure, which does not break the sense, as in the old arrangement, while the chapters are kept distinct, as in all other editions. The rhetorical punctuation introduced by Mr. Bell gives an astonishing effect to the delivery of any passage, being perfectly in unison with the respiratory and vocal powers. The motion and rest in the pronunciation of sentences are indicated by peculiar marks, which not only produce a clearness in the meaning of the sentence, but, at the same time, cause a delightful harmony on the ear, thus benefiting both reader and hearer.....There are, in the present edition of the Testament, too, a number of other advantages. The words peculiarly emphatic are printed in small capital letters; the words not in the orinal language being, as usual, printed in italics. The quotations from the Old Testament are put within inverted commas, as are the dialogistic parts, to distinguish them from the narrative, which is a great acquisition to those desirous of attaining correct and beautiful reading. Prefixed to each book is the date and place where it was written, and at the end of each, a table of illustrative quotations. In short, this is the best reading edition of the
