Wanderings in the Land of Ham

Longman, Brown, Green, Longmans & Roberts, 1858 - 307 páginas
The earliest known part of Africa was referred to as the "Land of Ham" and the "daughter of Japhet" in this work is a young lady who accompanies her mother and invalid brother to Egypt. This is her account of their travels and adventures on the Nile and usual excursions in and around Cairo. Visits to Malta, Gibraltar and Lisbon on the return voyage form the completion of a typical Oriental Grand Tour, as it was termed during the 19th century. Their journey began in Lyons on November 2nd 1854, arriving home in July of 1850.
