Also, full gracious Lord, wheras your seid pore tenauntes of olde tyme weren wonte to have grete easement of your mille ther longing to your seid Lordship, they now no maner easement ther of may have, in as moche as the seid mille is not kepte up ne mayntened as it hath ben afore tyne; wherfore it causeth hem to seke fer thennes to have ther cornes grounden, to their grete distresse and hindring. Please it unto your gracious Lord-hip, atte the reverence of God, graciousely to ordeigne and graunte that your seid fermour and baillif ther from hensforth may paye toward the Kinges taxe for his catell like as hath be usid and paid afore this tyme, and lyke as your tenauntes doon ther for their catell. And also that ye graciously wold like that your seid mille ther might be mayntened and kepte up, so that your seid tenauntes mighten have their easement atte the seid mille, as they hadden afore tyme, considering the grete rente whiche your seid tenauntes beren yerely to your seid Lordship; and this for Goddis love in wey of charite.

Most trusty, I salute you, puttyng you to knowlegge that I am full decyvyd and surprisyd not to returne to Oxford, and have an offyce in the Monastery, which ys Subcellerer; wherfor I pray you trusse up my stuffe

safe and send it by Buccke, with all spede; and by cause the grett cofer ys cumberus to carey trusse them yn my bedde, layng my clothys yn the midle of my stuffe and my books thereapon. The grett mantle ye shall receve for P. Johnson; and as for my ij. cofers ye shall lett these remayne for Peter Langlaye, which ys chosyn scholar and shall come to you shortly with Dom. J. Crosse; but trusse soche stuffe as I have yn the cofers, and take a sylkyn gyrdle that T. Frenshe gave me, the boys know hyt. I praye you make good serche therfore, and here ys the keye of the cofer wheryn be P. Johnsons books with other stuffe. Syr Davyth hayth Saynt Hyeroms epystlys of myne; requyre hyt. Yf ye have or can make money of my tablys and trestlys with the postys of my bed, do; yf not put them yn save garde; and among all other thyngs I desyre you hartely cause my table of Saynt Dorothe to be safe conveyd with owt hurte; and send me word what the contribucyons be; and who myche P. Johnson ys yn the Mancyples booke, and yn Terys booke, and I wyll send hyt to hym. By Crosse ye shall receve with thys lettre j. noble for to dyscharge my stuffe both fro Oxford and also to the shyppe. And hereyn ye shall desyre Bucke yn my name to take so moche paynys as to delyver hyt to a shype of Feversham, wherof he shall not fayle wekely; you takyng the paynys to wrytt yn parchement, and suerly sewen apon eche trusse, that they be delyveryd to Feversham, and from thens to our Monastery; expressyng my name. The Bottles I trust ye have not forgott. Send word when the chyldren shall be at Gravysend, and yf ye have made sale of eny of my stuffe send me vj. payer of glovys, buttond, in cheverett.
