An act to provide artificial legs for citizens of the commonwealth who lost their legs during the late war.

An act to authorize subscriptions to the stock of the Atlantic and Alleghany railroad company by the counties of Chesterfield, Powhatan, Cumberland, Buckingham, Appomattox, Nelson, Amherst, Rockbridge, the cities of Richmond and Lynchburg, and the towns of Manchester and Lexington.

An act to authorize the Atlantic and Alleghany railroad company to build a branch road to Lynchburg.

An act to authorize the qualified voters of the county of Prince Edward to vote on the question of removing the county courthouse to the town of Farmville.

An act appointing trustees for the town of Carrborough, in the county of Prince William.

An act to provide a charter for the town of Front Royal.

An act to amend and re-enact section 7, chapter 195 of the Code of 1860, with regard to carrying concealed weapons.

Joint resolution for the better enforcement of the laws regulating the Potomac and Rappahannock fisheries.

An act for the relief of James Cloyd and other sureties of Andrew Miller, late sheriff of Pulaski county.

An act to amend and re-enact the 1st section of an act entitled an act prescribing the duties and compensation of county officers, approved July 11, 1870.

An act for the prevention of prize-fighting within the state of Virginia.

An act to authorize the county of Albemarle to borrow money to rebuild bridges destroyed by the recent flood of September, 1870. An act to incorporate the Land improvement company.

An act to amend and re-enact sections 14 and 15 of an act entitled an act for the assessment of taxes, approved July 9, 1870.

An act amending and re-enacting the 2d section of an act entitled an act to protect the oyster beds in the waters of the commonwealth.

A message was received from the house of delegates by Mr. Kelley, who informed the senate that that house had adopted the following resolution, in which they respectfully request the concurrence of the

senate:

Resolved by the house of delegates (the senate concurring), That a joint committee of three members on the part of the house, and two on the part of the senate, be appointed to inform his excellency, the governor, that the general assembly are now ready to adjourn sine die. The said resolution was taken up when,

Mr. Penn moved that the same be laid on the table, and the question being put thereon, was determined in the negative-ayes 4; noes 25.

On motion of Mr. Penn, the vote was recorded as follows:
Ayes-Messrs. Martin, Penn, Riddick, and Terry-4.

Noes-Messrs. Anderson of Pittsylvania, Austin, Beazley, Camp

bell, Courtney, Fitzpatrick, Greever, Grimsley, Hamlett, Harris, Herndon, Johnson, Kendrick, Latham, Lyons, Massey, Owen, Pendleton, Perrin, Robinson, Smith of Henrico, Snowden, Taylor of Loudoun, Taylor of Norfolk city, and Teamoh-25.

The question recurring on the adoption of the said resolution, and being put, was determined in the affirmative.

The President appointed as the committee on the part of the senate, under said resolution, Messrs. Snowden and Pendleton.

On motion of Mr. Snowden, it was

Ordered, That he inform the house of delegates thereof.

Shortly thereafter the said committee, through their chairman, Mr. Snowden, reported that the committee had discharged the duty assigned them, and they were requested by the governor to inform the senate that he had no further communication to make to the general assembly.

A motion was then made by Mr. Herndon that the senate adjourn, and the question being put thereon, was determined in the affirmative; and the President announced that the senate stood adjourned until the first Wednesday in December next.
