House recommended to be adopted by the Joint Committee on Rules.

And so the joint rules for the Council and House of Representatives of the Eighth Legislative Assembly were read section by section, and upon motion by Mr. Downey were adopted as the joint rules of this Assembly.

Upon motion by Mr. Kelly the House and joint rules were referred to the Joint Committee on Printing.

Mr. Towne called up H. J. R. No. 2, which had been returned from the Honorable Council for correction, and upon motion by Mr. Downey the Chief Clerk of the House was instructed to communicate with the Hon. Presieent of the Council for the pur-pose of ascertaining in what particular the Hon. Council considers the H. J. R. should be corrected.

The following communication was then received from the Hon. Council:

Moved by Mr. Seaton, and duly carried, that the House do not recede from its amendments to C. J. R. No. 5, but that a conference be requested of the Honorable Council, and that the Speaker appoint three members of a Conference Committee on behalf of the Honorable House.

Mr. Speaker appointed as such committee on the part of the House Mr. Seaton, Mr. Tumpkins and Mr. Towne.
