1st. CORINTH. CHAP. Xiii. VER. 13. And now abideth Faith, Hope, Charity, these three; but the greatest of these is Charity.

THE particular stress laid upon Charity, in preference to the other two virtues recommended in these words of my text, does not imply that they are to be lightly passed over, as if they were held in no esteem in the comparison; on the contrary, the expression used by St. Paul elearly shews that he does not consider either of those virtues unconnected with
