A defired to add to account of Mrs.

Rachael Barclay (p. 79.), that her remains, were interred at Winchmore Hill. She was, fays our correfpondent, peculiarly engaging in her manners, quick in perception, found in judgment, anxious to know her duties, and firm in fulfilling them; and was fo poffled with the milk of human kindness, that the woes of a numerous neighbourhood were daily foltened by her lenient hand. She was a mott zealous friend to the widow, and a fostering parent to the rifing generation.

At Calcutta, Thomas Henry Davies, efq. the Company's Advocate General in the Supreme Court of Judicature.

Feb. 29. At the camp before Seringapa tam, Major Scott, Commander of a detachment of the Royal Artillery.

Lat ly at Paris, the notorious Paul Jones, of infamous memory, attended to his grave by a deputation of the National Allembly.

This disgraceful fact, though true, will hardly be believed by potterity, as this wretch, a Scotchman by birth, could be confidered in no better light than a thief endeavouring to avail himself of plunder while a house was on fire.

At his feat at Cromford, in Derbyshire, Sir Richard Arkwright, celebrated for the introduction of the ipinning jennies in the cotton manufactory, by which he had acquired an immenfe fortune. He is fard to Fave been originally a barber at Maucheiter. Lately the rev. Mr. Shifleto, Vicar of Headon, near Retford, aged 73.

Lately at Pontefract, Nicholas Torre, efq. 4. John Burgoyne, efq. Colond of the 4th reg. of root, a Lieut. Colonel in the army, M. P. for Preilon, and a Privy Councillor of Ireland. He was the author of four dramatic pieces, befides a number of prologues and epilogues. He is faid to have been a natural fon of Lord Bingley's. On the 13th he was interred in the cloillers in Weltminter Abbey in a private manner, being attended only by one coach.

P. 1756. la 1740 h, published a pamphlet in detence of Dr. Middleton againit the criticifms of Mr. Markland; and in 1749, an edition of Cicero's Epiftola ad Familiares, 2 Vols. 8vo. He was nom.nated Brihop of Exeter in 1778.
