Your committee, to whom was referred S. B. No. 302, to provide for the removal of the county seat of Perry county, have had the same under consideration would report, that no petitions or memorials have been presented to the House or laid before the committee, in favor of the passage of said bill.

That neither the house nor the committee have any reliable information that the people of Perry county desire any legislation upon that subject.

That the question of the location of the county seat has been twice submitted to the people of Perry county within the last six years.

That in view of the serious evils attending the continued agitatior of this subject, the people of Perry county, of all sections and parties, prior to the late election for senator and representative, agreed that there should be no further legislation on that subject, and that pledges were required of, and given by the candidates for said offices, that if elected, all such legislation should be resisted during their term of office.

That the state of feeling in Perry county is such that we deem it inexpedient to submit to the people the question of the removal of the county seat.

The majority of your committee would, therefore, recommend the indefinite postponement of said bill.
