me to do the work, for the faithful clergy he has given me, for the loving, earnest laity.

I am grateful we have been permitted to pay off a debt of $7,500, found upon the Diocese on coming to it, and to have secured its partial endowment, to the extent of $39,000; that we have been able to found our schools for boys and girls, at an outlay of $75,000; that we have seen St. Stephen's Hospital fairly established in its own home and doing a beneficent work; that we have a prospect of securing a home for the aged and orphans, under the auspices of the Diocese; that our aged and infirm clergy fund has crept up from $400 to nearly $3,000, and is steadily increasing; that in this time our communicants have doubled, and the number of our working clergy doubled; that in twenty-five or more counties services of the Church have been permanently established; that twenty-nine churches have been built, at a cost of $170,900; fourteen rectories, costing $45,800, and twelve parish houses, costing $52,300, have been erected. A total thus added to the property of the Diocese of $386,000.

The confirmations have been 4,800; baptisms, adults, 1,312; infants, 3,926; total, 5,438; parochial contributions, $804,023; Diocesan contributions $97,249; contributions outside the Diocese, $16,965; total, $918,238. An average of about $91,821 per annum. Number of communicants, now, 6,500; Sunday-school teachers, 400; scholars, 3,500. Valuation of churches at present time, $652,176; of rectories, $101,250. Number of Church buildings, 54; parishes, 39; organized missions, 25; stations with churches, 4; other stations, 55.

Our Candidates for Holy Orders, to meet our increasing need of clergymen, are multiplying. In all our parishes there is a more reverent worship, more careful attention to the house of God and its belongings, a deeper,

more fervent spiritual life evidenced by the weekly celebrations in most of our churches. God be praised for all this, and may the second decade upon which we have entered be productive of still greater and more abounding growth. May Bishop, Priest and people be animated by a deep and loving desire to do all which they may in their generation to advance the recognition of the Divine Saviour in the hearts of our children and fellow men, and the Kingdom of Christ go forward to possess the land.
