APPENDIX G.-PROCEEDINGS FOR THE YEAR 1906. Apportionment of the General Legislative Public School The apportionment of the Grant to the several municipalities is based upon the latest Returns of Population for the year 1905 and the division be tween the Public and Separate Schools on the average attendance of that year as reported by the Inspectors, Public School Boards and Separate School Trustees respectively. While the Separate Schools will receive their portion of the Grant direct from the Department, that of the Public Schools will be paid, according to this Schedule, through the respective County, City, Town, and Village Treasurers. Under the provisions of Section 5 of "An Act respecting the Education Department, 1901," the Education Department is empowered to appropriate out of moneys voted by the Legislature for Public and Separate Schools a sum not exceeding $5.00 for every school in which the Regulations of the Department as to equipment, ventilation, heating, lighting and the care of the premises generally have been complied with. Each County Inspector is therefore authorized to deduct from the apportionment of each township such an amount as will provide the sum of $5.00 to be paid on his order to each Trustee Board that has complied with the requirements mentioned.
