SUMMARY.-There are in the State of New York 56 Counties; 30 Congressional Districts; 8 Senate Districts; 760 Towns; 32 Senators; 128 Representatives; 91 Incorporated Villages; In the number of Towns are included 5 CITIES, viz: Albany, Hudson, New York, Schenectady, and Troy. These Cities are divided into 31 Wards viz: In New York 14; In Albany 5; In Hudson 2; In Schenectady 4; In Troy 6.

A STATEMENT OF THE POPULATION OF NEW YORK AT DIFFERENT PERIODS.

One hundred years ago, viz. in 1731, this great state contained but ten Counties and 50,291 Inhabitants.

In 1771 there were but ten Counties. The number of Inhab itants was 162,638 making an increase during 40 years of 112,347; an average annual increase of 2,826 Souls.

These ten Counties with their population in 1771 in the order of their incorporation here follow:

Before the adoption of the present Constitution of the State there were only four Senate Districts. At this time there are eight. The following tables exhibit the population of each Senate District, under the Old Constitution.
