-if you will study what the Bible really says, and what Science really says (not the popular counterfeits of each), and if you desire honestly to know the truth-then you may have perfect confidence that your faith will grow stronger and deeper as you go on in life; until the shadows fade, and in the future, larger life, you learn the true proportion and meaning of things, and no longer through a glass darkly, but, face to face, see and understand the mysteries of God. "Blessed are they that have not seen and yet have believed." Surely it is a nobler thing to have felt doubt, and to have overcome it-than never to have felt it at all. What, then, seems your trial may be your opportunity, and your apportioned share in the service of God.

And He said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and

beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth His hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt ?-St. Matthew xiv, 29, 30, 31.

And Jesus said unto them, because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.-St. Matthew xvii, 20.

Then saith He to Thomas, reach hither thy finger, and behold My hands, and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into My side : and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said unto Him, my Lord and my God. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen Me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.-St. John xx, 27-29.

Despondency.

HEARKEN unto my voice, O Lord, when I cry unto Thee have mercy upon me, and hear me. My heart hath talked of thee, seek ye My face: Thy face, Lord, will I seek. O hide not Thou Thy face from me nor cast Thy servant away in displeasure. Thou hast been my succour : leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.-Psalm xxvii, 8-11.

And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after Me, is not worthy of Me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for My sake shall find it.—St. Matthew x, 38, 39.

But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying: Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.-St. Matthew xiv, 27.

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it and whosoever will lose his life for My sake, shall find it.-St. Matthew xvi, 25.

Then saith He unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with Me.-St. Matthew xxvi, 38.

And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?-St. Matthew xxvii, 46.

And Simon answering said unto Him,. Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing nevertheless at Thy word I will let down the net. And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.St. Luke v, 5, 6.

If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or, if he shall ask an egg, will ye

offer him a scorpion? If ye, then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him.-St. Luke xi, 11—13.

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.-II Corinthians, 9, 8.

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love Him, because He first loved us.I St. John iv, 18, 19.

Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days : be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.-Revelation ii, 10.
