THE

GEOLOGICAL MAGAZINE.

NOTICE.

THE GEOLOGICAL MAGAZINE has now been established eighteen months, and has earned for itself a position as the medium of ready and frequent intercommunication for Geologists and Palæontologists, upon all subjects connected with this important branch of Natural Science.

It is, moreover, almost the only Monthly Periodical expressly established to meet the demand of a special department of science.

The Editors and Proprietors of the GEOLOGICAL MAGAZINE are able to announce that since its commencement it has maintained an average circulation exceeding 700 copies monthly; but, although this must be looked upon as a success in a city producing between 200 and 300 weekly, nearly 400 monthly, and 80 quarterly periodicals, yet its circulation is necessarily limited to those who take an interest in the science of which it treats.

It has, therefore, been found essential to its success (if the same excellence of illustrations and typography be continued) to return to the original price (viz., 18. 6d. monthly) as in 1864, with the firm conviction that those who have supported it hitherto will not only continue to do so, but will also induce their brother-geologists to subscribe towards the maintenance. of so useful and necessary a Magazine.

The original articles already published are of no small interest to Geologists, embracing, as they do, all branches of the subject, and including communications from :

Sir Roderick I. Murchison; Professors Owen, Phillips, Ramsay, Jukes, Morris, Harkness, Jones, Church; Revs. Fisher, Symonds, Bonney, Brodie, Tristram; Drs. Bigsby, Duncan, Woodward, Torell, Holl, Adams, Blake, Carpenter, Günther, Gray; Messrs. Prestwich, Davidson, Binney, Sorby, Edwards, Ruskin, Etheridge, Bristow, Hull, Geikie, Salter, Baily, Green, Whitaker, Dawkins, Kinahan, Carruthers, Rofe, Day, Seeley, Parker, Cossham, Brady, Bevan, Rose, Mackintosh, Meyer, Lankester, Roberts, Guppy, H. Woodward, &c. &c. &c.

In entering upon a new year and a new volume, the Editors and Proprietors feel that they carry with them the good wishes and support of all lovers of geological science, and can assure to their subscribers and readers a continued series of valuable original communications, notices, abstracts, reviews, and miscellaneous geological information on all the interesting questions of the day relating to this science.

Form for Subscribers to fill up and send to their Booksellers.
