Jesus, who was delivered for our offences.-Rom. iv. 24, 25.

Christ died for the ungodly, &c. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us, &c. We were reconciled to God by the death of his Son.Rom. v. 6. 8. 10; 1 Thess. v. 10.

God, sending his Son, &c. and for sin (or by a sacrifice for sins) condemned sin in the flesh, &c. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died.-Rom. viii. 3. 34. We preach Christ crucified unto the Jews a stumbling block, &c.1 Cor. i. 23; ii. 2.

Christ, our Passover, is sacrificed for us.-1 Cor. v. 7.

Ye are bought with a price.-1 Cor. vi. 20.

Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures.-1 Cor. xv. 3.

He hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin.-2 Cor. v. 21.

Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins, &c.-Gal. i. 3, 4.

The Son of God, &c. who gave himself for me.-Gal. ii. 20.

Christ hath loved us, and hath given himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God, for a sweet smelling savour, &c. Christ loved the church, and gave himself for it.-Eph. v. 2. 25.

He became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.-Phil. ii. 8; Heb. xii. 2, 3.

We have redemption through his blood, &c. having made peace through the blood of his cross, &c. hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh through death.-Col. i. 14. 20-22.

The man Jesus Christ, who gave himself a ransom for all, &c.-1 Tim. ii. 5, 6.

His Son, who, &c. when he had by himself purged our sins, &c.-Heb. i. 2, 3.

Jesus made, &c. for the suffering of death, &c. that he, by the grace of God, should taste death for every man for it became him, &c. to make the captain of their salvation perfect

through sufferings, &c. that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death; that is, the devil. -Heb. ii. 9, 10. 14.

Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered.-Heb. v. 8.

Who needed not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, &c. for this he did once, when he offered up himself.—Heb. vii. 27; x. 26.

Christ, being come, &c. by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, &c. How much more shall the blood of Christ, who, through the eternal Spirit, offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience? &c. that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions, &c. Where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. Neither the first testament was dedicated without blood. And without shedding of blood, is no remission. Nor yet that he should offer himself often, &c. But now once in the end of the world, hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. Christ was once offered, to bear the sins of many, &c.Heb. ix. 11, 12. 14—16. 18. 22. 25, 26. 28; Lev. xvi. 14, &c.

We are sanctified through the offering of the body of Christ once for all, &c. This man, after he had of fered one sacrifice for sins, for ever sat down, &c. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them who are sanctified, &c. To the blood of sprinkling, which speaketh better things than that of Abel.- Heb. x. 10. 12. 14; xii. 24.

Jesus, also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.—Heb. xiii. 13.

The Spirit of Christ, &c. when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ. Ye were not redeemed with silver and gold from your vain conversation received by, &c. but with the precious blood of Christ.-1 Pet. i. 11. 18, 19.

Christ also suffered for us, leaving

us an example, &c. who his own self | OUSNESS.-Jer. xxxiii. 15, 16; xxiii. bare our sins in his own body on (or to) the tree.-1 Pet. ii. 21. 24.

Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, &c. being put to death in the flesh, &c.-1 Pet. iii. 18.

Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves, &c.-1 Pet. iv. 1.

Jesus Christ the righteous, &c. he is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, &c. but, &c.—1 John ji. 1, 2.

Jesus Christ who gave himself a ransom for all, &c.-1 Tim. ii. 5, 6.

Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us.-1 John iii. 16.

Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood.Rev. i. 5.

Thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood, &c.-Rev.

v. 9.

The Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.-Rev. xiii. 8.

He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.-Rev. xix. 15.

SECT. 5.-He fulfilled all Righteousness of the Law; bare the Curse; took away the Hand-writing of Ordinances; is our Righteousness. I WILL make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.-Ps. lxxi. 16.

In thy name shall they rejoice all the day, and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted.-Ps. lxxxix. 16.

Surely, shall one say, In the Lord have I righteousness, &c. In the Lord shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.-Isa. xlv. 24, 25.

The servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord. -Isa. liv. 17.

I will cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David, &c. and this is the name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTE

Seventy weeks are determined, &c. to make an end of sins, &c. and to bring in everlasting righteousness.Dan. ix. 24.

Jesus came to John to be baptized, &c. Jesus said, Suffer it to be so now, for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness.-Matt. iii. 13. 15.

Think not that I am come to destroy the law or the prophets; I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.Matt. v. 17, 18.

The Comforter will convince the world, &c. of righteousness, because I go to my Father.-John xvi. 8. 10.

I am not ashamed of the gospel; for therein is the righteousness of God revealed.-Rom. i. 16, 17.

Christ is the end of the law, for righteousness, to every one that believeth.-Rom. x. 4.

Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us, &c. righteousness, &c.-1 Cor. i. 30, 31.

He hath made him to be sin for us, &c. that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.-2 Cor. v. 21.

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree.Gal. iii. 13; Deut. xxi. 23.

But now in Christ Jesus ye are made nigh, &c. For he, &c. hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances, &c.-Eph. ii. 13–15.

St. Paul counted all things but dung, that he might win Christ, and be found in him, not having his own righteousness, &c. but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.Phil. iii. 8, 9.

Blotting out the hand-writing of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us; and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.— Col. ii. 14.

SECT. 6. He sanctifieth us: is our Rev. i. 5; Heb. xii. 24.

Sanctification.

In that day there shall be a fountain opened, &c. for sin, and for uncleanness.-Zech. xiii. 1.

Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part in me. Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.-John xiii. 8, 9.

And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth, (or truly sanctified.)-John xvii. 19.

Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, &c.-1 Cor. i. 30. Ye are washed, ye are sanctified, &c. in the name of the Lord Jesus. 1 Cor. vi. 11.

Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it: that he might sanctify and cleanse it, with the washing of water, by the word; that he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing: but that he should be holy, and without blemish.-Eph. v. 25-27.

Both he that sanctifieth, and they who are sanctified, are all of one, &c.-Heb. ii. 11.

If the blood of bulls, &c. sanctifieth, &c. how much more shall the blood of Christ, &c. purge ?—Heb. ix. 13, 14.

We are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all, &c.-For by one offering (or one only oblation) he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified, &c. and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, &c.Heb. x. 10. 14. 29.

Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate, &c.-Heb.

xiii. 12.

Jesus, &c. that loved us, and washed

These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.-Rev. vii. 14.

SECT. 7.-He ariseth from the Dead. I KNOw that my Redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth.-Job xix. 25.

My flesh also shall rest in hope, (or dwell confidently,) for thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.-Ps. xvi. 9, 10; Acts ii. 27; xiii. 34, 35. 37.

Jesus said, He must go, &c. and be killed, and be raised again the third day.-Matt. xvi. 21; xx. 19.

Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead, &c. They shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. Matt. xvii. 9. 23.

The angel said, &c. He is not here; for he is risen, as he said, &c. The eleven disciples saw him, they worshipped him.-Matt. xxviii. 6. 16, 17; Luke xxiv. 5, 6. 15. 30, 31. 38-40. 46.

The world seeth me no more, but ye see me because I live, ye shall live also.-John xiv. 19.

Mary saw Jesus after he was risen; he saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended, &c.—John xx. 14. 16, 17.

This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself, &c. after that he was risen from the dead.-John xxi. 14.

Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that he should be holden of it, &c. This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Acts ii. 24. 31, 32.

Christ, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, &c. and with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus.-Acts iv. 10. 33.

The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew, &c.-Acts v. 30. Whom they slew, and hanged on a tree; him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly, &c. unto witnesses chosen before of God.Acts x. 39-41.

God raised him from the dead, &c. And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise; I will give you the sure mercies of David, &c. He whom God raised again, saw no corruption.-Acts xiii. 30. 33, 34. 37.

He hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world, &c. by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.-Acts xvii. 31.

The prophets and Moses did say, &c. that Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead.—Acts xxvi. 22, 23.

weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God.-2 Cor. xiii. 4; Eph. i. 19, 20; Rom. vi. 4.

And you, being dead, &c. hath he quickened together with him, &c. through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.-Col. ii. 12, 13.

Wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead.—1 Thess. i. 10.

Great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, &c.-1 Tim. iii. 16.

Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead, according to my gospel.-2 Tim. ii. 8.

Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, &c.-Heb. xiii. 20.

Blessed be God, &c. which hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus, &c. who by him do believe in God that raised him up from the dead, that your, &c.

Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, &c. declared to be the Son-1 Pet. i. 3. 21. of God with power, &c. by the resurrection from the dead.-Rom. i. 3, 4. Who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification. Rom. iv. 24, 25.

Knowing that Christ, being raised from the dead, dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.Rom. vi. 9.

And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.-1 Cor. vi. 14.

I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received; how that Christ died, &c. That he rose again the third day, according to the scriptures: and that he was seen of Cephas, &c. If Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain, &c. ye are yet in your sins, &c. But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first-fruits of them that slept.-1 Cor. xv. 3-5.

Though he was crucified through

Christ, &c. being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit; by which, &c. Not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience towards God, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.-1 Pet. iii. 18. 21.

THOU hast ascended on high: thou

So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.-Mark xvi. 19; Luke xxiv. 51.

Simon, behold, Satan hath desired. to have you, that he might sift you as wheat; but I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not.-Luke xxii.

31, 32.

I am the door; by me if any man

enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out and find pasture.John x. 9.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.John xiv. 6.

heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.Acts vii. 56.

Reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, &c. we shall be saved by his life.—Rom. v. 10.

Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, &c. who is even at the right hand of God: who also maketh intercession for us.-Rom. viii. 34.

It is expedient for you that I go away, &c. If I depart, I will send the Comforter unto you; and when he is come, he will reprove the world, &c. of righteousness, because I go to my Father, &c. I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again I leave the world, and go to the Father.-John xvi. 7, 8. 10. 16. 28. Christ prays for his at large.-nigh, &c. Through him we both have John xvii; Ps. Ixix. 7—10.

Jesus said unto her, Touch me not, for I am not yet ascended to my Father but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.-John xx. 17.

All that Jesus began both to do and teach, until the day in which he was taken up, after that he had given commandments to the apostles, &c. To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion, &c. When he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men, &c. said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall, &c.Acts i. 1-3. 9-11.

This Jesus, &c. being by the right hand of God exalted, &c. For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, &c. God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.-Acts ii. 32-34. 36.

Christ sitteth on the right hand of God, &c. Do all in the name of the Lord Jesus.-Col. iii. 1. 17; Heb. xiii. 15; 1 Pet. ii. 5.

When he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.-Heb. i. 3; xii. 2.

Seeing then that we have a great High Priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, &c. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, &c.-Heb. iv. 14–16.

Within the veil, whither the forerunner is for us entered: even Jesus, made an High Priest for ever.-Heb. vi. 19, 20.

He is able also to save them to the uttermost (or for evermore) that come unto God by him; seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such an High Priest became us, who is, &c. made higher than the heavens.-Heb. vii. 25, 26.
