Resolved, That the further consideration of said memorial be postponed to the next session of the legislature, and the same be filed with the petitions of Charles L. Gile and others, praying for a division of said town of Eaton.

Mr. Brown of Ossipee, from the same committee, to whom was referred the petition of Enoch M. Rollins and others, praying that certain lots of land may be disannexed from the town of Haverhill and annexed to the town of Bath, and the memorials of Eber Eastman and others and Elijah Curtis and others, remonstrating against the granting of the prayer of said petition, made a report, whereupon

Resolved, That the further consideration of said petition and memorials be postponed to the next session of the legislature.

Mr. Parker of Merrimack, from the committee on Roads, Bridges and Canals, to whom was referred the bill, entitled "An act in relation to the incorporation of railroad companies," made a report, whereupon

Resolved, That said bill be indefinitely postponed.

Mr. Ayer, from the same committee, to whom were referred the bill, entitled "An act to incorporate the Northern Extension and Connecticut River Valley Railroad," and the petition of T. W. Perkins and others, the petition of John A. Meder and others, the petition of W. A. Ruggles and others, the petition of G. W. Cook and others, and the petition of William Howard and others, all praying for the grant of a charter for said Northern Extension and Connecticut River Valley Railroad, reported the following resolution:

Resolved, That the further consideration of said bill and petitions be postponed to the next session of the legislature, with the usual order of notice.

On motion of Mr. Rogers

Resolved, That said report lie upon the table.

Mr. Ayer, from the same committee, to whom was referred the

bill, entitled "An act to incorporate the Nashua and Exeter Railroad Corporation," made a further report, whereupon

Resolved, That the further consideration of said bill be postponed to the next session of the legislature, with the usual order of notice.

Mr. Haddock, from the committee or Education, to whom was referred the bill, entitled "An act to authorize contiguous school districts to associate together to establish and maintain high schools,reported the same bill without amendment.

Mr. Choate of Unity proposed an amendment to said bill. Mr. Blaisdell of Lebanon moved to lay the bill upon the table; And the question being put,

It was decided in the negative.

And the question recurring upon the adoption of the amend ment,

It was decided in the affirmative.

So the negative of the question prevailed, and the bill was refused a third reading.

Mr. Hadley of Portsmouth, from the select committee, to whom were referred the petition of Joseph Nowell and others, praying for the passage of resolutions, instructing the Senators and requesting the Representatives in Congress from this State to oppose all propositions for the annexation of Texas to the United States, and to urge the passage of a law, abolishing slavery in the District of Columbia, and wherever else Congress may have jurisdiction, and also praying for the passage of a law to prevent the detention of fugitive slaves, and the petition of Reuben Porter and others, praying substantially for the same object, reported the following resolution:

Resolved, That the petitioners have leave to withdraw their petitions.

Mr. Preston moved that said report lie upon the table;
