"An act to alter the names of certain persons;"

A resolution granting one of Carrigain's Maps of New Hamp shire to the Gilmanton Theological Seminary;

Resolutions authorizing the Governor to apply any portion of the unexpended balance of former appropriations for the state prison, to slating the roof of the north wing, and other repairs of prison and work shops; and appropriating $200 to pay for land purchased by the warden.

The Senate have passed bills with the following titles, and the following resolution, in which they ask the concurrence of the House of Representatives, to wit:

"An act relating to sheriffs;"

"An act in addition to chapter 146 of the laws of this State, relative to representing stock in certain cases," approved Dec. 27, 1844;"

A resolution authorizing the Governor to appoint some person, to visit the several counties in this State, and investigate the condition of our common schools, and report to His Excellency the result of his investigations.

The Senate concur with the House of Representatives in the passage of a bill, entitled "An act relating to the duties of cashiers of banks in certain cases."

The Senate concur with the House in the passage of the bill, entitled "An act in addition to chapter 40 of the Revised Statutes," with an amendment, in which they ask the concurrence of the House.

The Senate concur with the House in the adoption of their amendments to the bill, entitled "An act in amendment of the seventy-third chapter of the Revised Statutes."

The Senate concur with the House in the passage of bills with the following titles and the following resolution, in which they ask the concurrence of the House, to wit:

"An act relating to banks;"

"An act in further addition to an act, approved July 1, 1831, and entitled 'An act to establish a corporation by the name of the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company;"

A resolution in favor of Laban Page.

The Senate concur with the House in the passage of a resolution, to repeal the resolution, passed Dec. 11, 1844, authori zing the sale or exchange of certain duplicate copies of books in the state library."

The House proceeded to the consideration of the bill, enti

Said bill was read a first time.

The question, shall said bill be read a second time? being put, It was decided in the affirmative.

So said bill was read a second time.

On the question, shall the bill be read a third time? being put, It was decided in the affirmative.

On motion of Mr. Foster of Manchester

Resolved, That the rules of the House be so far suspended, that said bill be read a third time by its title.

Said bill was then thus read a third time.

Resolved, That it pass, and its title be as aforesaid.
Ordered, That the clerk inform the Senate thereof.

The House proceeded to the consideration of the bill, entitled "An act in addition to chapter 146 of the laws of this State, relative to representing stock in certain cases," approved Dec. 27, 1844, which came down from the Senate;

Which was read a first time.

The question, shall the bill be read a second time? being put, It was decided in the affirmative.

So said bill was read a second time.

Mr. Jones of Bradford moved that the further consideration of the bill be postponed to the next session of the legislature; And the question being put,

It was decided in the negative.

So the House refused so to postpone the bill.

The question being, shall the bill be read a third time? and being put,

It was decided in the affirmative.

So the bill was read a second time.

Resolved, That it pass and its title be as aforesaid.
Ordered, That the clerk inform the Senate thereof.

The House proceeded to the consideration of the resolution, authorizing the Governor to appoint some suitable person to visit the several counties in this State, for the purpose of exciting an interest in the common schools, obtaining information as to their condition, and reporting to His Excellency the result of his enquiries, which came down from the Senate.

Said resolution was read a first time.

On the question,

Shall said resolution be read a second time? being put,
It was decided in the negative.

So the House refused to pass said resolution to a second reading.

Ordered, That the clerk notify the Senate thereof.

The House proceeded to the consideration of the bill, entitled "An act in addition to chapter 40 of the Revised Statutes," with the amendments which came down from the Senate.

The question, will the House concur with the Senate in the adoption of their amendment to said bill? being put, It was decided in the affirmative.

So the House concurred with the Senate in the adoption of their amendment to said bill.

Ordered, That the clerk notify the Senate thereof.

The House proceeded to the consideration of the bill, entitled "An act relating to banks," with the amendments which came down from the Senate.

On the question,

Will the House concur?

It was decided in the affirmative.

So the House concurred with the Senate in the adoption of their amendment to said bill.

Ordered, That the clerk inform the Senate thereof.

The House proceeded to the consideration of the bill, entitled "An act in further addition to an act approved July 1, 1831, and entitled, an act to establish a corporation by the name of the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company," with the amendment which came down from the Senate.

On the question,

Will the House concur?

It was decided in the affirmative.

So the House concurred with the Senate in the adoption of their amendment to said bill.

Ordered, That the clerk inform the Senate thereof.

The House proceeded to the consideration of the resolution. in favor of Laban Page, with the amendments which came down from the Senate,

Which amendments were read.

On the question,

Will the House concur with the Senate in the adoption of the first amendment proposed by them to the resolution, which was to reduce the sum allowed to said Page?

It was decided in the negative.

So the House non-concurred with the Senate in the adoption of the first amendment proposed by them to said resolution. On the question,

Will the House concur in the adoption of the second amendment proposed by the Senate to the resolution?

It was decided in the affirmative.

So the House concurred with the Senate in the adoption of their second amendment to said resolution.

Ordered, That the clerk notify the Senate thereof.

On motion of Mr. Martin

Resolved, That the rules of the House be so far suspended, that he have leave, at this time, to introduce a bill.

Mr. Martin accordingly introduced a bill, entitled "An act in addition to chapter 21 of the Revised Statutes,"

Which was read a first time.

The question, shall the bill be read a second time? being put, It was decided in the affirmative.

So said bill was read a second time.

On the question, shall said bill be read a third time? being put, It was decided in the affirmative.

On motion of Mr. Dyer.

Resolved, That the rules of the House be so far suspended, that the bill be read a third time by its title.

Said bill was then thus read a third time.

Resolved, That it pass, and that its title be as aforesaid. Ordered, That the clerk request the concurrence of the Senate therein.

On motion of Mr. Batchelder of Haverhill—

Resolved, That the rules of the House be so far suspended, that he have leave, at this time, to introduce a bill.

Mr. Batchelder of Haverhill accordingly introduced a bill, entitled “An act in addition to chapter 73 of the Revised Statutes;" Which was read a fist time.

The question, shall said bill be read a second time? being put,
It was decided in the affirmative.

So said bill was read a second time.

The question being, shall said bill be read a third time? and being put,

It was decided in the affirmative.

On motion of Mr. Gates

Resolved, That the rules of the House be so far suspended, that said bill be read a third time by its title.

Said bill was then thus read a third time.

Mr. Morrill moved that the bill lie upon the table.

And the question being put,

It was decided in the negative.

So the House refused to lay said bill upon the table.
Resolved, That it pass and its title he as aforesaid.

Ordered, That the clerk request the concurrence of the Senate therein.

Agreeably to previous notice and by leave, Mr. Boylston introduced a bill, entitled "An act to incorporate the Souhegan Railroad company,"

Which was read a first time.

On motion of Mr. Nettleton

Resolved, That the bill be postponed to the next session of the legislature, with the usual order of notice.

Mr. Boylston, by leave, presented the account of Currier & Hall.

Ordered, That it be referred to the committee on Claims.

Mr. Clough of Canterbury moved that the House resume the consideration of the bill, entitled "An act to incorporate the trus tees of the Freewill Baptist printing establishment;"

And the question being put,

The yeas and nays were called for.

Mr. Batchelder of Haverhill moved that the House adjourn. And the question being put,

It was decided in the negative.

So the House refused to adjourn.

The question recurring upon the motion of Mr. Clough of Loudon, to resume the consideration of said bill, and being put,
