9. Each house shall transmit to the other all bills which have passed their several stages in the house in which they originated, at least twenty-four hours before the time fixed on for adjourn

10. After each house shall have adhered to their disagreement, a bill or resolve shall be considered lost.

On motion of Mr. Sawyer of Atkinson

Resolved, That said rules be adopted, on the part of the House, as the joint rules of the two branches of the legislature for the present year.

Ordered, That the clerk inform the Senate thereof.

The following message was received from the Senate by their

clerk:

"Mr. Speaker-The Senate have adopted on their part, the joint rules reported by the joint committee, for the government of the two houses the present year.”

On motion of Mr. Kelly

Resolved, That the New Hampshire Historical Society have liberty to use the Representatives' Hall, on Wednesday evening next, for the purpose of hearing an address from the Hon. Levi Woodbury.

Mr. Atwood moved that the House adjourn;

And the question being put,

It was decided in the negative.

Mr. Fowler gave notice, that he will to-morrow ask leave to introduce a bill, entitled "An act to incorporate the Merrimack County Bank."

On motion of Mr. Curry

Resolved, That a committee of five be appointed to take into consideration the address of His Excellency the Governor, and report what disposition shall be made of the various subjects embraced therein.

Ordered, That Messrs. Curry, Folsom, Capron, Ayer and Rowe be the committee.

The following message was received from the Senate by their clerk:

"Mr. Speaker-The Senate concur with the House of Representatives in the appointment of a committee to procure three hundred printed copies of the rules of the House, the rules of

the Senate, the joint rules of the two houses, the constitution of the United States, the constitution of the State of New Hampshire, the names of the several members of the legislature and its officers, the place of residence, boarding-place, and the number of the seat of each member, together with a list of the standing committees in each of its branches, for the use of both branches of the legislature the present year, and have on their part joined Mr. Robinson."

AFTERNOON.

Resolved, That the House are ready to meet the Senate in convention, for the purpose of proceeding in the elections, agreeably to the provisions of the constitution.

The following message was received from the Senate by their

clerk:

"Mr. Speaker The Senate concur with the House of Representatives in the appointment of a committee, to fix upon a day on which the business of the present session may be brought to a close, and have on their part joined Mr. Gibson.

The Senate also concur with the House in the appointment of a committee to audit the accounts of the state treasurer, and have on their part joined Mr. Lane."

IN CONVENTION.

The Senate and House of Representatives being assembled in convention in the Representatives' Hall, for the purpose of proceeding in the elections, agreeably to the provisions of the constitution,

Mr. Smith of the Senate, from the committee appointed to receive the returns of votes for Counsellors, sort and count their numbers and report thereon, by leave, made the following

From the towns of Orford and Columbia, in this district, the returns of votes were not received at the secretary of state's office within the time prescribed by the constitution; nevertheless. the committee have thought proper to include them in the foregoing estimate.

George W. Nesmith of Franklin, member elect from that town, having been duly qualified, was introduced by the secretary of state, and took his seat.

On motion of Mr. Blaisdell of Lebanon

Resolved, That a committee be appointed on the part of the House, with such as the Senate may join, to wait upon His Excellency the Governor, and inform him that the following gentlemen are duly elected Counsellors for the ensuing political year: From District No. 1, Hon. Benjamin Jenness.
