Armington and others, praying for the same object; the petition of the Nashua Manufacturing company, praying for the passage of an act authorizing them to discontinue a portion of their canal; the petition of Stephen Thayer and others, for the grant of a charter for a railroad to connect with the Fitchburg Railroad in Massachusets, at Shirley, and from thence passing through Townsend, Ashby, New Ipswich, Temple, Sharon, Jaffrey, Peterborough, Dublin and Marlborough, to the centre of Keene; the petition of John Stevens and others, praying for the grant of a charter for a railroad from Greenland to New Market; and the petition of William Jones and others, praying for the grant of a charter for a railroad from Alton Bay to the east line of the State of Vermont, in either of the towns of Orford, Piermont, Haverhill or Bath, made a report, whereupon Resolved, That the further consideration of said bill and petititions be referred to the committee on Roads, Bridges and Canals. Mr. Gilinan, from the same committee, to whom was referred a bill, entitled “An act to provide for the attachment of partnership property;" a bill, entitled "An act in amendment of chapter forty-two of the Revised Statutes;" a bill, entitled "An act in amendment of chapter one hundred and sixty-six of the Revised Statutes;" a resolution instructing the Judiciary committee to inquire into the expediency of exempting the property of females from taxation, when not exceeding in value five hundred dollars; and sundry resolutions relative to the enlargement of the jurisdiction of justices of the peace, or of adopting such other measures as shall tend to lessen litigation and the burden of its cost upon the people; also relative to such amendment of the license law, that its operation may be more equal in the several towns of the State, made a report, whereupon Resolved, That the further consideration of said bills and resolutions be referred to the committee on the Judiciary. Mr. Gilman, from the same committee, to whom was referred the petition of Hiram Parker and others, inhabitants of Hart's Location, praying for the passage of an act, remunerating them for costs incurred by the sale of said Location, upon a warrant for taxes; and the petition of Laban Page, praying for relief from Josses occasioned in the public service, made a farther report, whereupon Resolved, That the farther consideration of said petitions be referred to the committee on Claims.
