Mr. Howell offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That the said nominations be indefinitely postponed for the reason that the Senate entertains the opinion that a sufficient number of Masters have already been appointed for the county of Oakland.

Mr. Thurber moved to lay the nomination of Dewitt C. Bancroft the table, which motion did not prevail by the following vote:

The Senate was called to order by the President pro tem,

Mr. Hale from the executive committee to whom was referred the executive communication of yesterday, reported the same back, and recommended that the Senate do advise and consent to the nominations therein contained, in gross.

Mr. Chipman moved to lay the nominations for Jackson county, upon the table, which motion prevailed.

The Senate advised and consented to the balance of the nominations by the following vote:

I hereby nominate James Sullivan to be prosecuting attorney for Cass county, for the constitutional term, to commence on the fourteenth day of March next, when his present term of office will expire.

I also nominate Andrew Harvie and Levi Bishop, to be masters in chancery for Wayne county;

Lyman W. Perkins to be master in chancery for Lenawee county;

William W. Lawrence, to be master in chancery for Jackson county;
