How were Isaac and Ishmael distinguished after Abraham's death?

God's blessing rested on Isaac (xxv. ii.), and to Ishmael was fulfilled the promise of temporal greatness given for him to Abraham.-Gen. xvii. 20.

What was that promise?

That he should be the father of twelve princes who were afterwards (it is said) known by their names, their towns and by their castles, according to their nations.-xxv. 16. Where did they live?
