The accompanying report of the Secretary of the Board of Regents, marked "A" shows the numbers and the amounts of the several warrants issued during the year, and the objects for which, and the names of the persons to whom they were issued.

The accompanying report of the Treasurer of the University, marked "B" shows the numbers and amounts of the several warrants paid during the year, and the items of receipts, and the sources from whence received.

The accompanying report from the office of the Commissioner of the State Land Office, marked "C," shows the quantity of University lands sold during the year; the number of acres forfeited, and the changes in the amount of the University fund, and how they were created.

The accompanying report of the State Treasurer, marked "D," shows the amount to the credit of the University Interest Fund at the Commencement of the year; the sums credited during the year; the amounts paid during the same time; and the balance at the end of the year.

The disbursements of the Anatomical Department have this year exceeded the receipts, ninty-nine cents, but there was a balance in the hands of the Demonstrator of Anatomy, of $4 26 at the end of the year.

The account of the Demonstrator is herewith submitted, marked "E."

UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN, Tuesday, Dec. 23, 1862.

The following members of the Board of Regents assembled at 10 A. M.:

President Tappan, Regents Johnson, McIntyre, and Brown. A quorum not being present, they adjourned.

Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1862.

The following members of the Board assembled at 9, A. M.: President Tappan, Regents Johnson, Bishop, McIntyre, and Brown.

A quorum not being present, they adjourned to meet Tuesday, March 24th, 1863, at 10, A. M.

MARCH MEETING, 1863.

UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN, Tuesday, March 24, 1863.

The Board of Regents assembled at 10, A. M.

Present: President Tappan, Regents Baxter, Johnson, McIntyre, Brown, and Whiting.

The meeting was opened with prayer by the President.
The minutes of the last meeting were approved.

On motion of Regent McIntyre, the President was authorized to have the Diploma Plate for the Degree of Bachelor of Science changed, so that Diplomas for the Degree of Master of Science may also be obtained from the same plate.

A communication was received from the Law Faculty recommending forty-eight students as candidates for the Degree of Bachelor of Laws.

On motion of Regent Johnson, the Degree of Bachelor of Laws was ordered to be conferred on the gentlemen recommended by the Law Faculty.

On motion of Regent Brown,

Resolved, That the sum of two hundred dollars be and the same is hereby appropriated to pay for the use of the Presbyterian Church in Ann Arbor, for holding the various Commencement exercises, the Junior Exhibition, and other literary anniversaries for the current year.

On motion of Regent Johnson, the sum of fifty dollars was appropriated to pay for the use of the Presbyterian Church at the last Commencement.

On motion of Regent McIntyre, the sum of fifteen dollars was appropriated to pay Mr. J. Chandler for his services as Law Librarian.

A communication was received from Prof. Winchell, requesting that a committee be appointed to examine a collection of geological specimens offered for sale to the University, and to consider other matters of interest pertaining to the department of geology, zoology, and botany.

On motion of Regent Baxter, the President, Regents McIntyre and Brown, and Professors Sager and Douglas were appointed said committee.

Regent McIntyre presented the following preamble and resolutions:

Whereas, since the last meeting of this Board death has entered the University, and removed from its halls, and his field of usefulness there, one of its brightest ornaments, and one of the most faithful, devoted, and useful members of its Academic Faculty, in the person of John Louis Fasquelle, Professor of Modern Languages and Literature, and created a vacancy not easily to be supplied, and as it is fitting that the Board of Regents should, at this their first meeting since the occurrence of this sad event, give public expression to their regret for the loss which the University has sustained, of their high appreciation
