Mr. PRESIDENT: Your Committee on Finance have had under consideration Senate Bill No. 522-An Act making an appropriation for deficiency in the appropriation made for the twentieth and twenty-first fiscal years, ending July first, eighteen hundred and seventy-and recommend that it be amended by striking out section two, and recommend its passage

as amended.

Also, Assembly Bill No. 209-An Act to authorize the Auditor of Butte County to issue a warrant to W. S. Reese-and report the same back, with amendments, and recommend it passage as amended.

Also, Assembly Bill No. 293-An Act to provide for the payment of deficiency in the State Insane Asylum-and report the same back, with an amendment, and recommend its passage as amended.

Also, Senate Bill No. 513-An Act to pay for services rendered in the office of the State Surveyor-General-and recommend its passage. Also, Assembly Bill No. 332-An Act in relation to delinquent taxes in the County of Alpine-and recommend that it do not pass.

Mr. PRESIDENT: The San Francisco delegation, to whom was referred Assembly Bill No. 313-An Act to authorize the Odd Fellows' Cemetery Association, of San Francisco, to borrow money for certain purposes and to secure the same by mortgage upon real estate; Assembly Bill No. 154-An Act to ratify and confirm certain ordinances and resolutions of the Board of Supervisors of the City and County of San Francisco, and proceedings had thereunder; and Senate Bill No. 362-An Act to grant to certain persons the right of way for a railroad track, partly within the County of San Francisco and partly within the County of San Mateo, and to run horse cars thereon-having had the said bills under consideration, respectfully report the same back to the Senate and recommend their passage.

Also, having duly considered Assembly Bill No. 263-An Act for the relief of certain settlers on the outside lands of the City and County of San Francisco-beg leave to report the same back to the Senate, and respectfully recommend that it be referred to the Judiciary Committee.

Mr. PRESIDENT: I am directed to inform your honorable body that the Assembly, on the first instant, passed Assembly Bill No. 378-An Act to amend an Act entitled an Act to redistrict the County of Los Angeles and to provide for the election of Supervisors, approved March twenty-eighth, eighteen hundred and sixty-eight.

And, on the fifth instant, passed Assembly Bill No. 445-An Act concerning roads and highways in the County of Sutter.

Also, passed substitute for Assembly Bills Nos. 29 and 39-An Act to establish a Board of Police Commissioners for the City and County of San Francisco and to define their powers and duties.
