to authorize J. Bidwell, J. C. Mandeville and others to construct a wagon road in the Counties of Butte and Plumas, approved April fourteenth, eighteen hundred and sixty-three, and amended March sixteenth, eighteen hundred and sixty-four.

Also, Senate Bill No. 125-An Act for the encouragement of agriculture and the invention and construction of a locomotive steam plough. Also, Senate Bill No. 450-An Act authorizing the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County to erect a Court-bouse, or in their discretion to purchase a building suitable therefor, and to construct a fire-proof vault therein for the safety and preservation of the public records of the county.

Also, substitute for Senate Bill No. 361-An Act to improve the navigation of Kings River.

Also, Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 39, and Senate Concurrent Resolution No 41.

Mr. PRESIDENT: Your Committee on Finance have had under consideration Senate Bill No. 502-An Act for the relief and support of the Mechanics' Labor Exchange of California-and recommend that it do not pass.

Also, an Act to amend an Act to provide for the transfer of certain funds in the County of Placer, approved March twenty-eighth, eighteen hundred and sixty-eight, and recommend its passage.

Mr. Hager, from the Judiciary Committee, made the following report:

Mr. PRESIDENT: The Committee on Judiciary having had under consideration the following bills, report back Assembly Bill No. 143-An Act to amend an Act entitled an Act to regulate proceedings in civil cases in the Courts of justice of this State, passed April twenty-ninth, eighteen hundred and fifty-one-with amendments, and recommend the passage of the bill as amended.

Also, Senate Bill No. 417-An Act supplemental to and amendatory of an Act entitled an Act supplemental to and to amend an Act entitled an Act providing for the time of holding the several Courts of record in this State, approved April twenty-seventh, eighteen hundred and sixty-three, approved April fourth, eighteen hundred and sixty-fourwith amendments, and recommend the adoption of the amendments and the passage of the bill as amended.

Also, Senate Bill No. 469-An Act authorizing the publication of certain legal notices in a State paper printed at the seat of Government of the State of California-with an amendment, and recommend the adop tion of the amendment and the passage of the bill as amended.

Also, report back Senate Bill No. 68-An Act to provide revenue for the support of the Government of this State-and recommend its indefinite postponement.

Also, have had under consideration Senate Bill No. 406-An Act supplemental to an Act to authorize the Board of Supervisors of the City

and County of San Francisco to modify the grades of certain streets, approved March thirtieth, eighteen hundred and sixty-eight-with a substitute therefor. The committee were divided and could not agree upon the same, and therefore report back the said bill, with the substi tute therefor, for the consideration of the Senate.

Mr. Farley presented the following majority report from the Judiciary Committee:

Mr. PRESIDENT: A majority of the Committee on the Judiciary have had under consideration Senate Bill No. 130 and a substitute therefor, the substitute being entitled an Act supplementary to and amendatory of an Act entitled an Act to survey and dispose of certain salt marsh and tide lands belonging to the State of California, approved March thirtieth, eighteen hundred and sixty-eight, and report said bill back, and also the substitute therefor, with amendments, and recommend the the adoption of the amendments and the passage of the substitute as amended.
