D. eighteen hundred and sixty-six, eighteen hundred and sixtyseven, eighteen hundred and sixty-eight and eighteen hundred and sixtynine-report the same back and recommend its passage.

Also, Senate Bill No. 592-An Act to authorize the issuance of bonds by the County of San Luis Obispo to erect county buildings and to purchase a site for the same-has also been considered by your committee, and its passage recommended, with the following amendment: Amend by striking out in section twelve the first portion of the section down to the word "before," in line six.

Mr. PRESIDENT: Your Committee on Contingent Expenses have had under consideration various resolutions in relation to the appointment of some competent person to complete the Appendices and Journals of the Senate at the close of the session, and, after due deliberation, determined on recommending the award of the work to J B. Stevens, Minute Clerk of the Senate, at twelve and one-half cents per folio.

Mr. PRESIDENT: Your Committee on State Library, to whom was referred Senate Bill No. 443-An Act to authorize the State Librarian to purchase of Sumner Whitney certain volumes of the California Reports have had the same under consideration, and report it back with amendments, and recommend the adoption of the amendments and the passage of the bill as amended.

Mr. PRESIDENT: The Committee on Corporations, to whom was referred Assembly Bill No. 154-An Act to ratify and confirm certain ordinances and resolutions of the Board of Supervisors of the City and County of San Francisco, and proceedings had thereunder-respectfully report the same back to the Senate with amendments, and recommend that the amendments be adopted and the bill pass as amended.

Mr. PRESIDENT: I am directed to inform your honorable body that the Assembly, on yesterday, refused to concur in Senaté amendments to Assembly Bill No. 441-An Act to authorize the Board of Trustees of the City of Sacramento to allow a certain claim therein mentioned.

Also, passed substitute for Senate Bill No. 293-An Act authorizing the parties therein named, their associates and assigns, to construct and maintain a ship canal from the City of Stockton to deep water on the San Joaquin River.

Also, amended and passed Senate Bill No. 243-An Act to empower the Counties of Stanislaus and Merced, Fresno, Tulare and Kern, to aid in the construction of a railroad in said counties.

Also, passed Senate Bill No. 244-An Act to empower the City and County of San Francisco, and the Counties of Monterey and San Luis Obispo, to aid in the construction of the Southern Pacific Railroad and other purposes.

Also, Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 43-Relative to printing fee bills.

Also, Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 45-Requesting Governor to return Senate Bill No. 314.

Also, Senate Concurrent Resolution No 49-Relative to authorizing Enrolling Clerk to correct error in Senate Bill No. 328.

And, on the fourteenth instant, passed Assembly Bill No. 446—An Act concerning roads and highways in the County of Placer.

And, on this day, passed Assembly Concurrent Resolution No. 54Relative to requesting the Governor to return Assembly Bill No. 77 for

Mr. PRESIDENT : I am directed to inform your honorable body that the Assembly, on this day, adopted Assembly Concurrent Resolution No. 55-Directing the State Librarian to deliver to each of the Judges of the United States Courts on the Pacific Coast a copy of California Reports and session laws.

Also, concurred in Senate amendments to Assembly Bills Nos. 209 and 598.

And this day appointed, as a Committee of Conference on the disagreeing vote on Senate Bill No. 280, Messrs. Andrews, G. R. B. Hayes, Williams, and Henley of Sonoma.

And passed Senate Bill No. 471-An Act to amend an Act entitled an Act to authorize the establishment of county infirmaries for the relief of the indigent, and to amend an Act, etc.

And this day concurred in the second, third and fourth amendments, and refused to concur in the first and fifth amendments (Senate) to Assembly Bill No. 324-An Act concerning estrays and animals found running at large in the County of Santa Cruz.

And adopted Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 49-Relative to returning Senate Bill No. 83.

Also, adopted Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 48-Relative to authorizing Enrolling Clerk to correct Senate Bill No. 221.

And this day appointed, as Committee of Conference on disagreeing vote on Assembly Bill No. 429-An Act granting a street railroad franchise in the City and County of Sacramento-Messrs. Martin of Siskiyou, Horan, and Brown of Amador.

And have also corrected error in Senate Bill No. 149-An Act concerning the Insane Asylum of the State of California--and herewith return same to the Senate.

And, on the fourteenth instant, passed Assembly Bill No. 345-An Act to authorize the San Diego and Southern Pacific and Atlantic Railroad Company and its assigns, to construct, maintain and use a wharf and wharves in front of pueblo lots eleven hundred and sixty-three and eleven hundred and sixty-four, at South San Diego, in the County of San Diego.

Also, Assembly Bill No. 392-An Act authorizing the Board of Supervisors of Kern County to issue bonds.

Also, Assembly Bill No. 406-An Act to determine the lines and grades of streets, avenues, highways and lanes in the City and County of San Francisco.

Also, Assembly Bill No. 411-An Act to alter and better to define the corporate limits of the Town of Santa Rosa, in the County of Sonoma.
