The following message from the Governor was received: MR. SPEAKER-By direction of the Governor, I herewith submit his nomination to the office of Commissioner of Agriculture. Respectfully,

The Senate then went into executive session, with open doors, to consider the following message from the Governor:

GENTLEMEN OF THE SENATE-Under act of General Assembly, requiring confirmation by the Senate of certain appointments, I herewith nominate B. M. Hord, of the county of Davidson, to the office of Commissioner of Agriculture, Mines, etc. ROBT. L. TAYLOR, Governor.

The nomination was confirmed.

By unanimous consent the rules were suspended for the purpose of taking up and considering, on its third reading, Senate Bill No. 92, To regulate time of holding courts in the Fifth Judicial Circuit.

Passed third reading.

SENATE BILLS ON THIRD READING.

Senate Bill No. 4, To prevent banks and other moneyed institutions from paying interest on deposits.

The report of the Judiciary Committee, which recommends the bill for rejection, was concurred in, and the bill was rejected.

Senate Bill No. 9, To organize corporations to furnish abstracts of real estate titles.

The bill was amended by striking out the words "guardians, executors, and administrators," wherever they occur.

Pending consideration, the Senate adjourned until 10 o'clock A. M., Monday.

THIRTY-THIRD DAY.

The Senate met at 10 o'clock A. M., pursuant to adjournment, Mr. Speaker Ewing in the chair.

Proceedings were opened with prayer by the Rev. Dr. J. D. Barbee, pastor of McKendree Church.

On a call of the roll, all of the Senators responded except Messrs. Jarvis, Quarles, and Townes, who were excused on account of sickness.

The Journal of the proceedings of the 11th inst. was read and approved.
